The thing that blew my mind as a drummer was the amount of moon gels he had on his toms. I think that's why his toms sounded round, yet articulate. I also think he had his toms tuned quite deep, so combined with the less resonate sound, you get clearer fills, and more articulate moments with the kit as a whole. There are certain songs where he uses pads, but after hearing them live, there are most certainly songs where there are effects (most prominent of which being reverb) added to merely add to more melodic/symphonic/gospel sections. Also, I believe the "shmexy" section at the end, at least in this rendition, is the live version. I know most of the vocals vary in different performances, but II typically has 'live renditions" of *most* of the songs.

We definitely would watch an hour plus reaction to the Drumeo video. Wouldn't be the first most of us have done. 😂 I love watching musicians react and absorb truly top-tier playing, regardless of the instrument. Even when there's no interview to go along with it. And the interview is definitely worth it, he's incredibly thoughtful.

I think one of the reasons Vessel and II together are so good at writing amazing music (Vessel writes the songs and then hands it off to II and lets him write the drum parts) is that they're both very detail-oriented.

The keyword here is: intentional Even with no experience you can feel each note and it’s place. Drums are the soul of the song, when you do them with intent the more you add it elevates the song so much.

Yeah I love drummers like him I dislike drummers like Eloy casagrande who have no feel no pocket and think they need to Jam blast beats into everything because they have absolutely no diversity into their playing I mean don't get me wrong blast beats have their place but players like eloy who are a walking blast beat don't excite me there one-dimensional😂.
