Saw the Wings Over America concert at the Kingdome in Seattle. It was 1976. I was 16 at the time. My friends and I brought a tent and sleeping bags to get in line ( the concert was festival seating). We got there two days early and there were already a bunch of other people in line who had been camping out to get in. Once we were in it was so effen loud and screaming, stomping etc. I thought... f*ck, we will never be able to hear anything! The screaming was high pitched screeching just like in the early Beatle days at live concerts...ugghhh but......low and behold the engineers had recording mixers (because they were recording all concerts for the album Wings Over America) the sound went over all the noise and it was the most incredible concert I've ever seen! Paul played lead guitar, acoustic guitar, base, drums, piano...OMG and the band had the great Denny Lane touring with them. The thing I remember most was his talent and presence. When he walked out onto the stage his presence and energy was larger than life. I kid you not. You could feel it! Fantastic!!! 💕

@coinneachmaclellan3121 Parody my ass. He stole that "Cold Turkey" riff, BLATANTLY, from John's 9/30/69 much better song (imho) where John laments about his brief but harrowing use of heroin & the nightmarish withdrawal from it. And he stopped his heroin use abruptly w/ no mitigating benzos, gabapentin, etc., cuz no rehab clinics or independent clinical trials existed that shed light on drugs that would make w/d less taxing on the body & mind in 1969. Lou Reed's "Heroin" is masterful & didn't copy John's song, as Lou did the demo of it in '65 around the time that he formed "Velvet Underground" & it was included on one of their albums. The BEST version of the song (imho) is on Lou's live album "Rock n' Roll Animal' in '74 after having left Velvet. That entire album is one of the greatest live albums of ALL-TIME. Top 5, imo, and featured some fucking excellent guitar work by Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner. Includes "Sweet Jane" (VU song - but completely superior, again, to VU's version) & the closer "Rock 'n' Roll".
@oscarwilde66495 ай бұрын
This was no "answer" to "Cold Turkey". It is a blatant rip-off of the riff created by John in 1969's song about what John endured by abruptly stopping his heroin use w/ no mitigating drugs to ease the incredibly HORRIBLE w/d from his heroin addiction. John's song is much better than this tripe, which is a mundane love ditty that Paul was known to do, more often than not. R.I.P. John❤
