He told a podcast that when he was a child instead of playing video games he practiced 2 or 3 hours a day and when he grew up he practiced 8 hours a day as if it were a job. He also mentioned that he does not believe in talent but in practice and perseverance.

Yeah I’ve heard him say about the talent thing. I suppose, like a full time job, something you spend so long doing over and over, you will get very very good. And some, become great. And is incredible
@MrDarkweaver

I've heard him say this as well, and often those with incredible talent are humble and prefer to credit the hours and hours of work and practice in getting as good as they are. Make no mistake, he has a great deal of talent, but he combines that with rigorous and disciplined practise, which is why he's soooo good. Some people have perfect ptich, this guy has perfect rhythm.

The cowbell on his snare has a 2 or 3 pound weight in it. It's what lets him do so many of those sick 1-handed gravity blasts and such because it tightens up the head in such a way to not fuck up the pitch of the snare while still giving it some extra rebound speed. El Estepario has said that he practices 6-8 hours a day most days. He's the very definition of hard work and dedication to your craft, and he's fucking amazing.

Helps keep false hits from registering on the triggers he's obviously using. Either that or he sound replaces shit after. I'm no drummer but I am an engineer paid to make drums sound this clean.

@@BionicBurke IDK about false hits triggering, that is the purpose of setting a threshold, to where samples only snap to clean hits. A good drummer can control their dynamics, making false hits a nonissue. I assume any time a drummer has something sitting on their snare it is to reduce overtones. Primarily the overtones that are produced when hitting the other drums, which causes bleed. I've seen where he uses condenser mics in his setup so that bleed is amplified.

When Tiger Woods stepped onto the golf course and into the golf world, he had done so much practicing EVERY day, even bugging his dad Earl to take him after school. That work ethic AND freak show built-in talent made his entry to golf so impactful. Tiger raised the bar so high that everybody else was there to fight for second place. That's what we're witnessing here. El Estepario is changing the drumming world. His feet speed and timing are impeccable. He hits two different drums and the strikes are so synchronized that it sounds like ONE strike instead of two. Estepario, thank you for these performances and the fun you put in the videos we do get out of the videos. Your personality shows through these videos and that makes them so much more fun to watch.

Stephen Perkins, Josh Freese and Ilan Rubin are my favourite drummers. Fifty years drumming so I know a little. I never appreciated the classic jazz drummers until a decade ago. Krupa, Rogers and Rich then Bonzo and Portnoy all staggering. But El Estapario takes drumming to a new level. Best drummer in history for me. By a distance. A humble and moral chap too. God would be very proud of El. Personally he makes me want to give up whilst simultaneously loving watching him. Our favourite drummers develop their own drum dance that makes them unique. El Estapario’s drum dance makes it look so easy…just mentioned as I wrote that. Just astonishing.

My first, it was for the reaction video the second comment for E!! I can relate to his unprecedented dedication, and it shows his true love for drumming, and there is a window that you break through as very few people experience and there craft or quest to be the best at what they do and you can just go over a few of them like a Michael Jordan or a Tiger Woods to a Mike Tyson. There are many more names that you can throw in that bag of gods if you will when it comes to taking there craft tool level that mankind has never seen in generations in the history of the sport or the whatever it may be I guess what I’m trying to portray here is that there are so many different things a person can choose to do in this world, and so many people do them, but why is there only less than a handful of guys that just made it look like everybody else was novice at best compared to these guys at the level they are it’s truly amazing !! as an archer are used to shoot 500 arrows a day every day for years, and I got good 100th in the world as a matter fact, but I didn’t come close to turning the archery world upside down shooting and practicing as much as I did, I can say this much the reason that I did it is the day the local archery shop made me feel like an inch tall when I first started, I never left somewhere so embarrassed, but as I did, they lit a fire inside me that the next five years was spent all my energy channeled at making them regret the day that they DISSED ME. And as an independent shooter, for many many many years with no sponsors, and I took the wind out of their clubs sails there wasn’t a local archery tournament within three states that one of their guys could go to and win because I was always there and to shoot and post my score nothing felt more godlike, then having that control and it was simply because I practice more than they could ever imagine so much so that they couldn’t fathom practicing anymore than they were thinking that nobody could do it anyway more but how wrong they were and I guess maybe something like that drove these guys I guess is my point here to do what they do and they’ve never just spoken about it. This is the first time I’ve actually ever admitted , I guess and why I’m doing this to because it’s hard to fathom when you see something like this in and witness it in its I’ve been listening to speed metals for a long time I was a drum roadie back in the early 80s and set up drum kits and played on them and did the sound and just this fucking guy blow. You blows your fucking mind it’s it’s , it’s God like it’s a State it’s almost leaves you a person speechless but what a blessing to witness at my age and a breath of fresh air to the speed, metal community and drumming that my hats off to you E, the best drummer ever !!!

Its so insane but the best one-handed ive seen him do so far is Qotsa - Songs for the deaf. jaw on the floor. 1 point of critieque from a 2/4 no good keyboard warrior (me) is that it gets a bit "marching band" if you listen to him for too long. But with that said. Hes probably the most creative, precise and tecnically sound drummer in the world. Never heard anyone come close tbh.
@StillAProudAmerican-ll2yc
@StillAProudAmerican-ll2yc Жыл бұрын
louisbuss, I thought the same thing about the "marching band" sound. It's just the mix levels. Others that do covers, Sina for instance, match their drum levels to match the studio levels and actually replace the original drum tracks. El Estepario's mix makes the drums much more pronounced and the song is the background.

We love watching him! He is phenomenal! At the end of his video my jaw is on the floor and my hands hurt for him and I'm exhausted! But, I do it all over again because the next one is awesome as well! I subscribed to your channel because of these 2 videos you've done of him :) my husband and I love to watch him drum, but we also loved seeing you react to him :) you did great and were fun to watch...you had the same looks on your face we do when we watch him :) Very cool! Thanks! Looking forward to whats next :)

Luke Holland's playthroughs of Tendinitis, Ishimura and Upside down - written by him and Jason Richardson are all a great watch. El Estepario is inhuman, but Luke's definitely got some chops particularly in the metal/prog space.

No triggers! He records everything using one of those little Yamaha drum gadgets that clamps onto the bass drum hoop. (I don't recall the actual model name) Dude is unreal.

That’s mad! How does it not pick up lots of other sounds like creeks etc?! You’d imagine it’s super sensitive. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!

@@cliffoplaysdrums I’m sure he edits anything that he doesn’t want. Yet I find it very impressive that he never hits the cowbell on the snare. The dude is an inspiration!!!! And I’ll be honest I’m only here for the El Estapario Siberiano. So hopefully no hard feeling 🤘🔥🤘. Glad you found this drummer. He has been blowing my mind for 6 months +

No problem! I will probably react to a fair few other videos from him as he releases so be sure to sub!

Well, the Yamaha EAD10 consists of 2 condenser microphones and 1 bass-drum trigger. So, he’s always using triggers for his kicks (except possibly in his long covers where he uses a full set of microphones) 👍🏻

@@cliffoplaysdrums Yeah Matt is great. He has even more subscribers than El Estepario. His pendulum/prodigy cover from 7 years ago is still brilliant fun: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJWUn56agrWrh7s He errs on the side of making it look hard, rather than easy, but it's fun to watch :-)

never been good with names but the drummer from motorheads live show solo is incredible, not saying for 1 second he is on this guys level tho, there is only 1 musician that you can put on his level with no disrespect to anybody else is a guitarist by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughn. both have the ability to make everyone else question why do this when thats unachievable lmao. new sub here

Loved this video, thanks. As a fellow drummer, I would like to hear more about how you think he actually does it technically, especially the one-handed rolls and transitions between drums. Would also love to see him take on a Tool song or two!
