I’ve been following his solo work for many years now. He is indeed a machine. Minimizes wasted energy. He’s very efficient.

that is not heel toe it's called ankle technique (heel up ankle) heel toe its double stroke(in now days) and in this video david is using single stroke heel up ankle technique
@Reftsquabble7 ай бұрын
Yeah not heel-toe. He mentioned in a video once that he plays single strokes and never learned heel-toe. He might have learned it since though, just like he recently picked up push-pull.
@mr.nibblez2939Ай бұрын
@@Reftsquabble his podcast with marthyn quite a many years back, david did indeed talk about his using heel-toe. and as a matter of fact he is 100% using heel-toe with the swivel technique. anything over 220bpm he uses heel-toe. David Diepold is my favorite drummer. research it if you think im false.

I love that smile throughout the entire song. Practice is easy when you ate having that much fun. 🎉

Whist David is heel-toe capable, he’s only employing single strokes by way of ankle technique and occasionally swivels.

You are right. He's like a machine. Sounds good.

Worth mentioning that Diepold doesn't just play metal. He has a Dave Weckl cover of Tiempo de Festival.

I have seen this by many drummers do this same thing. It only demonstrates one of thousand skills to play on the drums. I love metal but I consider a good drummer that plays many styles and adds diversity to what they perform. I have watched you know who play this with one hand smoking while putting different style flares in something like this.
@tormento_6668 ай бұрын
dude, you know who couldnt play this song in its entirety without both his hands and the dualist pedal haha and this style doesnt need funky drumming it requires exactly what hes providing

This guy is fast and clean. But boring as can be, he's just playing the same thing over and over and over. My lord what happened to being melodic in one's playing. Not for me.
@pplrstrange9 ай бұрын
I bet one anything you can't play that.
@gazbuck739 ай бұрын
He’s playing what’s required for the song/style. INCREDIBLE
@onewatchjustisntenough9 ай бұрын
Agreed. This is not the style for me.
@crimsonfricker8 ай бұрын
Nothing happened to being melodic. There are countless melodic bands out there. This is a song from one band playing a specific style. Stop with this arrogance.

@kingvii72508 ай бұрын
And there is no meaning doing that actually. This is why you should not quit drums because some drummers need to stop up and show the world that this is crap
