Fucker just knows how to read a rhythm and progress a song and his fill ins are so instinctive and natural and all that is just programmed into his bones at this point, and he looks like he's just jumping on this roller coaster and milking every moment for everything he can get out of it, he's truly an inspiring example of what it looks like to dedicate yourself to what you love the most in life. Amazing..

idk why this comment almost made me emotional ahahaha but it's the perfect explanation of what we're watching.
@Branfaol1Ай бұрын
@@luisdavila5721first he was listening to the song without a drum track, was left to create his own drum track. So he wasn't trying to imitate the original. With that said the track he laid down works with the song and still keeps the songs beat rhythm, timing and energy.
@MrJewbomber1000Ай бұрын
That's more over cause of his dynamic with the Bass player in RHCP, those two got REALLY good playing the music which is what you hear in their songs. One of the rips the other one plays a lower beat then visa versa
@ThePippin899 ай бұрын
The most incredible thing about this isn't how close Chad got to the original, its the way he did it. You see drummers do this and they listen to the song and take notes, they work out timings, work out where the fills are and where the bridge is etc. Then write a part and play it. Chad started listening to this song, heard a couple of bars and said, "oh it's in 3" and then started banging out a part to it. He anticipated where the song was going, where to raise it up and where to play fills etc just from his knowledge of song writing. That for me was so impressive.

@thebreifcaseman2698 ай бұрын
Ghosting kicks has been a thing for some time. drum and bass producers have been doing it for years I don't understand the point of people pointing this out. Yes this is incredible but adding a few ghost notes in isn't why this is crazy. It's the fact he plays the drums in such a way that complements the track so dam well with such ease on the first go.
@Greencheezy08 ай бұрын
@@thebreifcaseman269I think you're basically saying the same thing as the guy You're responding to. It's not about him using the ghost notes -- it's about him knowing exactly where to place the ghost notes which coincides with what you said about how he is able to compliment the song immediately upon hearing it the first time as well as how he plays in general.

He absolutely crushed this. The fact he never heard it(or actively listened to it)before this moment, yet goes on to crush it on his first attempt, was awesome. Sure it’s never going to be exactly as it was written, but if you never heard the original drums, you’d think these were it

I love one-take drum videos like this because it feels like a small snippet of the drummers mind and how he perceives the music in his raw unrefined way. This was so awesome.

True World Class playing. One of the all time greats. His ability as a musician is equal to that of many of our other big names in drumming and all time greats.
