Awesome video- I'm a big 602 fan the last 5 years after playing Zildjian A's and A Custom since the 80's . Now I have been playing 602's- thin and medium and a Vintage pre serial 602 medium ride....outstanding!

I own signature, giant beat, and a 18 inch 602 thin crash. The thin crash from the 602 is my favorite due to its lower pitch and washy sound. Love the 602 but I have to agree with everyone here, price wise, these things are way over priced. The masters line, signature, and giant beat lines are superb for their prices and are professional when it comes to recording. If you get a 602, get them used. You save more money and get to experience the 602 sound.

Great review! Thank you! I personally love 602 cymbals and over 4 decades I have bought many new 602s and also bought many of them used because of the high price. However, Paiste makes great cymbals that are much more affordable and sound great for the price. That's the beauty of Paiste. They have good sounding student quality cymbals and go up to the cream of the crop, and you will pay a lot for that high quality, but no one is making you buy them. If you want the great Paiste sound but can't afford to spend loads of money, you can find it without spending a fortune. Even some of the cheapest cymbals Paiste have made produce a better sound to me than some of the top of the line cymbals by other cymbal companies. Long live Paiste and long live the 602!

Wow, and I thought Zildjian K and Meinl Byzance were expensive :-) As always, a very transparent review folks, thanks!

I do like the hi hats, but not too sure about the prices across the range. I also liked Nick's drumming. Good review.

I love Paiste. I started with them 50 years ago, went through every other manufacturer over the years, but came back to them 15 or so years ago. They have a magic. Yes, they are crazy expensive, but I'm sure part of this is down to being made in Switzerland , an expensive country, but also one where artisans are paid what they deserve.

When you think there are kilograms of metal that have the potential of sounding like GOLD, that sometime actually possess equally expensive raw materials to that of silver, it must be appreciated as pretty good value! Only the thickness and shape determine how much sound value you get out of the amount of alloy consumed. Seriously, if you had a blindfold on, what would you say they sound like? (budget level for me, but) Close your eyes to evaluate everything. The truth is not visual, nor commercial. They also NEED to be heard in a band context without 'closing ears' compression kicking in, to hear what tones go with the band and the 'repertoire keys' to get honesty and evaluation cred. Man I thought a cut down from 20 to 18.5" ride cymbal I had was a real dog, until I recorded with it to find out IT WAS THE MOST VERSATILE RIDE CYMBAL I OWN!! 😲 Lol. Major eye opener for ever more. Record and playback in gig context for true evaluation cred. :-)

You have to acquire a taste for these. I’m a pretty simple guy myself. I have two sets of cymbals-Sabian Xsr and Zildjian A series. They to my ear sound wonderful and are very versatile. But the real kicker is they didn’t cost a small fortune.

Great review and excellent drumming! Like the Thin Crashes and the Paperthin the best. Prices are very high, but these are the SRP and not „street prices“, but still a lot of money.

I’m a soundengineer and I was wondering if you miced all the cymbals that only from below? I miss a lot of stick articulation and high end.

I really liked a lot of these cymbals, save for the heavy crashes, way too much body. The prices are ridiculous and not worth the money period!!! Thanks for the very thorough review guys.

You're paying for the consistency. Paiste will scrap cymbals if they aren't right. They're more strict unlike brands like zildjian when it comes to consistency. They also sound better than any cymbal I've played, especially in a full band setting.

No Stewart Copeland type 12 or 13 hats or a Joe Morello 22 ride, pity, not that I could afford them having zero gigs in 2020 can't justify Splashing out!

Totally agree with the consensus here. These are nothing special (I think Paiste have superior lines in their Twenty, Masters and Signature ranges). The pricing is absolutely ridiculous, Paiste seem to think because they have Vinnie’s face all over their 602 promotional material that they can charge what they want. Nothing more than shameless greed. Great video as ever though lads, Matt looks very comfortable presenting the videos and Nick’s playing is fab as ever. Keep it up chaps!

They sound ok, not bad at all, but not nearly as good as the price implies. I own K dark thins and lights, but also I'm a fan of most Paiste series, except this one, somehow, I much prefer the sound of 2002 or even Giant Beat, both nearly x2 cheaper btw ) Oh, and thanks for the the demo, sirs

Yes there very expensive!!! We as the public have allowed the cymbal companies to charge these prices. If you stop buying them, the manufacturers will get the message, simple as that. The problem is most of us search for that perfect sound.Once we find it ,we pay the price.I will say at least paiste has the Pst7 line for people who can't afford the high end models that sound great for the price tag.The truth is all of the cymbal companies have got out of a line with there pricing.I guess the way they see it if you buy a $500.00 dollar cymbal you won't be replacing it so charge alot.

If these cymbals were unbranded I’d have thought they were a cheap line of economy cymbals. Can’t imagine they’re going to gain in popularity. So many wonderful cymbals out there at much lower prices.

Good review but that thumbs down is mine. I only liked the "through the mic" sound of 2 cymbals. I know lots of people will love the 602 range but not me. I've got myself the Paiste PST7 light weight with bonus 18" crash and my ear has become accustomed to them and as he said, some can't justify the price tag. I can't justify being a Paiste player if their cymbals cost that much. I did also buy the PSTX Medium Swiss and I'm just going to stick with the cheaper of the Paiste range but nothing less than the PST7's. Sorry Paiste, your 602's don't appeal to me.
