that is true god forbid you damage your sweet 2002 paper thin crash,another awaits with exact same sound and volume if your technique does not change,or choice of sticks is perfectly matched to style,height and whether guitarist in the band has a marshall stack or not.ask drum guys at guitar center if they have any prototype paiste behind counter,these save alot of money but are one of a kind that cannot be easily replaced as paiste cymbals go.

Yes they are VERY consistent. But I've Listened to a FEW audio clips before buying and at home they sound different. Example: 21 Masters Medium 2oo2 22 inch Crash Signature 19 Power. I still Love them but the Recordings do make them Sound Different. (Clear-er) Just My 2 Cents.

I have PST7s hats and crashes and a 2002 ride. I wouldn't mind changing the hats, to something heavier. Maybe the 900s. I might change the 16 crash. But seriously, I'd change out the 2002 ride before I got rid of my PST7 18 thin crash. To my ears it's as good as anything else they make.

@@jamesdennett196 I agree, the PSTs have incredible value. I recently got a 18" PST8 Ref. Rock crash and it's very good for its lower price. I'm looking into some new hats (currently still rocking 13" and 14" 101 hats) so PST or 900 would be great for a drummer on a budget like me

@@marc.over. Hi! The sustain of 16" and 17" is ok for medium volumes but for me the pitch of 16" Full Crash is perfect, since the pitch/weight of Power Crashes are too high for me. That is why I am searching a 18" Full Crash, longer sustain while keeping the pitch and volume more controllable. The Paiste sound check on their site is very good but I reccomend to check at your preferred dealer, If possible.

Many decades ago, after being blow away by Chad Wackerman, I researched his setup, and found he was using Paiste Signature. The local shop did not carry much Paiste at all, so without even trying one out, I ordered a Paiste Signature 18" crash. Was very nervous, as they are not cheap, as we all know. When it arrived, I first walked around the entire crash cymbal collection in the story and hit each one. Then I set up the Paiste and hit it... IT BLEW ME AWAY. Never heard such a beautiful, full spectrum, sparkly sounding crash in my life. That was the start of my Paiste 'addiction', LOL. I now have various Signature series, Dark Energy, and Twenty series. All amazing.

THIS IS PERFECT !!!! - THANK YOU !!! - Paiste (2002) Cymbals have been my favorite since 1982. With so many lines since then, this type of comprehensive video comparison is AWESOME !!! (If Paiste ever releases a "low volume" line of cymbals, I'm done trying to decide which ones to buy :D )

Since I first played a Signature ride cymbal in a music store when the line was first introduced I've been enamored by them. The feel and sound was so different from Zildjian. So "musical" while feeling so good to play. I'd love to add a set of either the signature or 2002 line to my set up. Never new that Bonham and Porcaro played Paiste. Thanks for a great informative video. They seem to get better and better.

great video with spot on commentary. I play 2002 and Signature Full crashes live since the early 90's and Traditional for quieter gigs. This video explains why perfectly. I actually combine a 15" 2002 HH sound edge top with a 15" traditional (rare) bottom for a great cutting semi dark live combo. I love that Paiste sound

Thanks for giving history, chronology and overview of all the Paiste cymbal lines. Very useful. I’ve played 2002, 505 and had a fantastic Sound Creation Dark Ride 22” about 30 years ago. Now I’m starting again and am amazed by the Signature, Signature Traditionals and 602 ME. Thanks for a really great review. Greetings from a subscribing Swedish 🇸🇪 drummer. Best drum channel.

It took me over 25 years to discover Paiste, though as a kid I used to drool over the Signatures. I went to Paiste, left, and came back. Even if I get other cymbal sets to try, they're not going anywhere.

I think most other cymbal companies used B8 alloy in their beginner line cymbals to undermine Paiste. The proof is in the pudding though, for sure
@RyoCanCan
@RyoCanCan 3 жыл бұрын
@@conalls2480 High copper bronze is more malleable so it's easier to use high volume manufacturing methods on it and the more tin you insert in to the alloy, the more brittle it becomes. Naturally, the more pliable the bronze, the easier to manufacture, the cheaper the product. Also using b8 helps with the power hammering paiste uses, making close duplication so much easier.

I've always used Zildjian, but they came out in support of Marxism (BLM), so I'm shopping around. I won't support a Marxist company. I've been very impressed by Paiste. Likely better than Zildjians. I hope they aren't on the woke fad, too.

Long time Paiste fanatic here, too. The reissued Formula 602's have been some of my favorite cymbals since my first encounter with the Signatures in the early 90's. They're perfect: not too bright, not too dark, no weird warble when they decay, just a pure & perfect tone. I could see how some may feel they're a little sterile but I love them. Just wish they'd have brought out a 22" F602 heavy with the recent additions to the line earlier this year.

I don't know their price, but I would say : 1) masters 2) signature traditional 3) signature I like the 602 and big beat too, but they are less shiny. - For hard rock, I wiil prefer the signature one which is darker than the traditional, - for versatility and play a lot of different styles, I would choose the signature traditional which is more crisp - and for blues or jazz the masters which are warmer and a little darker. The hearing test in the first part is easily truncated because our auditory memory is very short-lived. the second part is more interesting because the sounds are closer together. It was only by returning to the video and listening to this second part that I was able to form a truly objective opinion.
