Awesome drummer in his own right. I imagine everyone wants to talk to him about his Dad (who is also awesome) but Nic has proved to be his own man. Nice guy too.

Agreed, I have come across too many interviews where the focus wasn't on him. Definitely wanted to change that focus. Thanks for watching

Great interview. Nic is a very likeable humble bloke with a lot of experienced mentors (inside/outside of his dad and Genesis) to inspire him. Watching/hearing him with his own band, then Genesis, and now with Mike Rutherford's group: WoW! There exist technically brilliant drummers who just can't seem to JOIN the group - like contribute in away that enhances the music. Nic seems like he could play with almost anyone and is open to new challenges. Can't wait to see Nic live. Like his dad, it's "all about the music" which (like Phil) will allow him to contribute to a lot of music in our world. Had a chance to talk to Phil at a signing in Detroit decades ago... Phil drew a birthday cake on DUKE album for a friend's gift, writing "Happy Birthday, Phil." What a kind person to do this for a kid waiting in line with a bunch of old Genesis albums? Even with the human foibles Phil honesty confronts in his biography, this kindness and regard for others is what I see in Nic too. Cheers from a SFBay drummer who might just get a chance to meet Nic at one of Chad Smith's drum clinics some day.

Good interview, I really liked the second part. Nic is such a relax guy, and a great drummer for his age.

That’s awesome he said his first kit was a Tama acrylic. My dream kit was a 2006 acrylic Starclassic Mirage with a Black Ice “finish?” They just released a new Starclassic acrylic kit for their 50th anniversary & they’re just as beautiful. Wish I had about 3 G’s to get one….

I have been looking at acrylic kits for about 5 yrs but am yet to follow through with the purchase. Thanks for watching

I just Thank the good Lord Phil has got a son that is not only. I'm taking care of him looking after him excessive. But he is drumming for Phil Collins and still is not going to end. 1:41 ❤❤❤ 1:41

O Phil Collins investiu muito bem em seu filho. Pelo visto, um filho excelente. Parabéns Phil pelo filho. Seus esforços valeram a pena.👏👏👏👏👏

Its funny to hear how mike asked for a smaller kit, as Gary the original M+M drummer has used quite the elaborate kit himself over the last decades (larger than Nic’s kit at Genesis).

As much as Phil loved Led Zeppelin and John Bonham, it is no surprise Nic started out with them. Nic seems rather eloquent, but then his mom is smart and well educated and Phil is obviously smart and well-spoken. As for football....well everyone has their own favs. I am surprised Nic said he played basketball with Matthew and not soccer. But that was before Messi came to Miami!

Without his dad's name and life, he wouldn't have the opportunity he has. I was self-taught also. Unless you have money and enough backing, and also in his case, Phil's name, it's not very likely you will make it as he has. That's an undeniable fact. He mentioned his musical fascination with John Bonham, and Led Zeppelin. That band as a whole had an occult and sordid history. You do realize that Aleister Crowley, a very evil and wicked man, was praised and adored by members, especially the lead singer. The videos were tainted with these esoteric occult lyrics, backmasking, and visuals. Some things should not be accepted as cool and hip because you want to be with the IN crowd.

Thanks for watching and commenting. In our opinion Nic is an excellent drummer in his own right after seeing him up close with Genesis and Mike & The Mechanics so fully deserves the light being 'shone' on him. Unlike a lot of other interviews, we wanted to find out about him and not ask endless questions about his Dad or sister. What about Zak Starkey, Rufus Taylor, Jay Weinberg or Jason Bonham? Drummers we also enjoy listening too.

@DrummingSolo -but the facts I stated hold true. I played for years, but was never famous or recognized. Know real history about these bands also. Not just because they are drummers.

Backmasking is a silly urban legend. The only artist to use intentional back masking was Jeff Lynne and that was to troll the dumb evangelical Christians in the USA that thought the ELO song Eldorado contained backmasked satanic refrences

Don’t be so negative just because life as a musician didnt work out for you.

@musiqsoundsproductions - Your first mistake is assuming I wanted to be a professional musician. It's not negative. It's reality. Don't respond unless you have a valid reason.
