You gotta check out music from "Bocchi the Rock!". It's an anime about a Guitarist and her band. The band put out an actual album and an EP. As a guitarist, Bocchi is a legit inspiration. The guitar is showcased in a very tasteful manner. For specific recommendations: - "Seishun Complex" Their most known song and OP. Catchy, very well made song. - "That band" This one is featured in an iconic episode. Guitar SLAPS. I think you'd prefer listening to the full versions btw.

I feel like this is such a criminally under appreciated One Piece song. It is almost never mentioned in the community when discussing the best/most iconic songs from the series, even though it is an absolute banger that symbolises such an important part of the story (I wish I could say more, but that would be spoilers) and is made by the same guy who did the first opening, which is easily the most iconic one piece song. Personally, I adore this song. It is such an incredible musical piece, easily my favourite opening from the show, so it’s absolutely incredible to see that you enjoyed and appreciated it as much as I do! Thank you for listening to it and kudos to YikesBradley for requesting it on Patreon!

I always loved the refrain in this song: "ichi, ni, sunshine, yon, we go". Because in Japanese 1,2,3,4,5 = ichi, ni, san, yon, go.
@alansmithee419Ай бұрын
Huh, as someone who doesn't speak Japanese (but knew, ichi, ni, san from a countdown in a game lol) I managed to deduce yon must be 4, but didn't realise "go" meant "five." Two instances of interlingual word play in such a short space is mad.
@alansmithee1412 Жыл бұрын
What's fun about that brassy opener is that it is accompanied in the anime by the initial narration that kicked off the first opening, "We Are"/the series as a whole ("Wealth. Fame. Power.", etc. etc.), with the buildup as the narrator exclaims the final lines ("This is the time known as the Great Pirate Era!") emphasizing just how grand of a tale the viewer is about to embark upon.

This opening is in a way dedicated to the half point of the journey, the title itself calling back to the very first opening "We Are". And even after the series changes to a new opening some chapters later, this song stays in a way as the "theme" of the series by being what you hear at the next episode preview at the very end of every episode

Hiroshi Kitadani is the singer and the man is dedicated to the 80s era of hair metal. He even looks the part. The best example of this (And in my honest opinion the absolute best opening he made for One Piece) is Over The Top, which has this big energetic almost ska arrangement and he's going absolutely nuts on the vocals. Absolute banger.

Another thing that a lot of people don't mention about this song is the incredible wordplay. When it says ichi ni sunshine yon we go, it is a playoff of the fact that counting in Japanese goes ichi ni san yon go.

Some fun facts: The manga for One Piece started in 1997, the anime in '99, and yes currently has over 1k episodes (1075). It's the 2nd most sold comic currently (Superman being number 1, Batman #3). Definitely recommend reacting to more One Piece songs. Would be interested on your take of the 1st opening named We Are, and the 10th (which is a remix). Thanks for the video.

However the Superman you are talking about started in 1938, just about 70 years earlier and had 15.000 issues. If we are talking about collected comic book format then One Piece is #1 by a large margin.

It's VERY difficult to explain without spoiling things for any who are getting into OP, but...the moment you hear Hiroshi Kitadani's voice belting out "jitto dekinai tomarenai" every One Piece fan lost their minds the first time hearing this. Kitadani's the guy who did the very first Opening (We Are) that defined OP as the high action fun bright and colourful world of Oda perfectly and before this Opening was heard we'd seen one of the darkest moments of the series, death violence, loss and a worsening of the world in all aspects. So Kitadani's opening here is to show that yes things have changed but it's still One Piece, it's still going to be fun and adventure and action with Oda's colourful world and it was sort of the perfect breath of fresh air that the fans needed.

And this opening... is upon them reuniting to re-start their journey after re-uniting at the halfway point after those two years, much stronger than they were before.

These anime openings are made usually to be music first but be themed for a show. The music can usually be swapped to a different show if a deal falls through. For instances, the song “Fighting Dreamers”used for the show Naruto was originally meant for the show One Piece where fighting was originally meant to be Pirate.
