Raindrop that fell to the sky is a long and soulful track, really conveys Chris' skill as a musical artist. They might as well be dead is a chill banger that uses the tabla with some bangin guitar melodies Con lentitud poderosa is an emotional piece that really only hits hard if you know the context of the game or the previous game, but it's still great from a musical perspective. Can't go wrong with any RoR track really.

Man, I swear I have never seen any video game composer write music the way Chris does. His music is so odd just like the time signatures in most of his songs and that makes it so recognizable and unique. Combined with the strange and inhospitable world of Risk of Rain it makes for an incredibly exciting and notable experience!

Love the song, and it definitely has legs of it's own. But imo it's one that suffers from a lack of context. The long, melancholic walk in game is what makes it. Also the quote/poem that it's from is dope. Songs like this one, Antarctic Oscillation, stand on their own a bit more.

@@broad_cat It's definitely a piece that benefits from context, but it's not just one of my favourite Chris Christodoulou songs for that - he does some absolute bangers, but I love it because it imparts so much feeling and emotion with such a simple melody line, and the instrumentation where it counts is sparse but absolutely gorgeous.

Never realized it until this listen, but this song epitomizes that the way to make '1' hit the hardest is to not play it. Messes with your expectations so much between the 7/8, over the bar line hi-hat, etc.

I know I’m a little late but “They might as well be dead”, “The Face of the Deep” and “Who Can Fathom the Soundless Depths” all by Chris, are worth a listen. He’s a maestro, the entire survivors of the void EP that those tracks are from is phenomenal.

You should definitely listen to the track that gives *some* leitmotifs to this track (RoR's soundtrack is absolutely chock-full of motifs), aptly named "Arctic Oscillation". The original Risk of Rain is being remade, so maybe the ost will also have some upgrades as well, but the classic is a masterpiece

I honestly can't think of a video game soundtrack that has better drums than this. They usually don't shine as much and I love it here.

This track pulls a lot of ideas from a track in the first game, Arctic Oscillation. For example, everything coming together for a climax in 4/4, although both execute on it differently. This one uses shifting time signatures and polyrhythms, while the original relied more on Polymeter. They both also feature the same descending 4-note motif found in every track on the albums (you can hear it during what you called the B-section). You can really see how Chris has evolved his style over the years when comparing the first album to this one.

God I miss the time where the bug presents after the transporter fight (since usually the teleporter music, like this one, ends after teleporter event ends), where this music will persist after the event ends and since it's on the unavoidable stage of the game if you wanna win it, you are guaranteed to hear this play out at least once in a run. It is such a nice groove it's been a highlight of every single run I have had before the bug got fixed.
