If I wanted to nail the vibe differences between openings 1 and 2 in their contexts, 1 is "Spy" and 2 is "Family". We get a ton of classic jazzy, big band heist elements in the first opening to establish the father's career as a covert agent trying to build a false family to suit their persona as an honest, reliable doctor. With season 2 we then transition into him slowly becoming a family man with genuine attachment to his ditzy fake wife and oblivious peanut-loving daughter. S2's opening just fills me with this feeling of nostalgia for a time that I never actually experienced even in its relative simplicity.

Absolutely am more of a fan of OP1 myself, but they are both great. In the first half of the season it's a lot of chaos as 3 disparate individuals are forced together through unlikely circumstances to make a family unit. In the 2nd half you still have chaos, but they are finding their groove and rhythm as a family. The two OPs definitely reflect the shift. It's a very cute, and sweet show btw, an easy recommend especially if you need something light hearted to chill out with.

I'm so happy that you reacted to these songs!!! BUMP OF CHICKEN is my favourite band ever and it's true that their song was simple compared to Official HIGE DANdism's song, they most of the time have quite a simplistic characteristic to their songs with some exceptions such as Hello, Word and Gekkou (although I don't know a lot about music soooo maybe you can be the judge of that?). I understand why you would give all your points to Mixed Nuts but I have to amiably disagree :p I hope that you can react to some other songs by BUMP OF CHICKEN, mainly Hello World, Gekkou, Gravity, Acacia and Nanairo??

Both the opening represent different things in my perspective First opening is all fusion and mixed up coz the opening is from the perspective of the daughter of the family(Anya). As a child with wild imagination ( you can see the wild and wacky cartoonish stuff happening in the opening) this is how Anya sees the world always hyped about the cool detective cartoons she watches and imagines her life being a part of it (now that it is a part of it). The 2nd opening is tame and straight forward cause it's from the perspective of the father of the family (Loid). He's a spy with two lives and in this opening you can see both anya the daughter and yor the wife going on with their lives ( it's to be assumed we are seeing them with loid's perspective), what he wants is to keep up the normal family appearances whilst also working towards the peace of the nation. The song's name "souvenir" and the lyrics itself hint at the possibility of change in heart of Loid after meeting his family like it's an gift for someone who grew up alone.

What do you think about the nature of the Japanese language being about to fit more musical options? I have observed that due to the syllables they can fit the lyrics to the instruments. Also, each word ends in vowel sounds, making it easier to rhyme. I was only able to observe this by listening to English covers of songs.
@SkitsyCat Жыл бұрын
I'm just a random commenter, not some lyrical expert either, but I have to agree. I think the Japanese language is just hits the right mix of smooth and syllabic, so it really helps and adds to the melody of most music. I've heard some Chinese songs (I'm half Chinese, so my mom puts on some Teresa Teng for gramma sometimes) and I just find Chinese syllables so grating sometimes 😅 (Though Teresa Teng is a lovely singer in both languages, my ears just prefer her Japanese versions better) In a similar vein, Korean feels better than Chinese, though I do still feel some chokes to the melody sometimes on syllables that end in hard consonant sounds. Again, this is just what I think from the stuff I've experienced.

Some, a little bit of context, this anime is about an undercover spy having the mission to create a fake family to get to investigate someone that's trying to get to nations on war again. First part (op 1) it kind of presents all the cool stuff the spy does, it's more focus on the mission, part 2 (op 2) it's when the fake family is not that fake anymore and it's more chill with the story even, not so much spy missions and more family things. So I think that also explains the vibe change on the 2 openings. Great analysis, I do appreciate your comments, I get to know more things about music, even if just a little!
