And they don't just make the music, they sit down with writers, producers, animators, developers to discuss what exactly is going to be in the scene, animation, battle so they can make the music fit into and a part of it. Many of the lyrics in the songs talk about things going in the game or at least themes(especially ones written by TetraCalyx)

I mean that's not really unique or anything. Lots of game studios have an internal music/sound studio made up of multiple staff. More than one composer and arranger, plus sound people working on SFX and dialogue recording and integration into the game, editing, as well as a director of audio or music. As would be proper, they get concept art and themes from the other teams before working on new music, and on bigger stuff like cutscenes they'll sync up and work on it together.

That drop at 3:30 and the way it's synced with the boss fight's second phase gives me chills every time I play it. Mihoyo never misses when it comes to their OSTs.

First time I fought Cocolia (I started playing late so I was already using Jing Yuan), I used Jing's ultimate which synced perfectly with the song, and oh my god that gave me CHILLS 😂

To add more info to this comment, when the boss uses the classic "falling meteor" on you the first time (this happens on the second phase), the music transitions from A Trap With No Return to the drop at 3:30 (on this video) of Wildfire. They literally made the drop sync with the... drop.

Spoiler: The Boss literally kills you right before you invoke the power she ignored and get right back up to kick her ass to this banger. She could've been this, but she gave up and Preservation basically askes if you'll hold the line she failed to.

the best part is how the song is used in the game. in the first phase, only the part of the song before the drop is used, and without vocals. in the second phase, this continues at first, but then the boss will summon a massive meteor and throw it at your party, and the drop with vocals hit and it's like the song is telling you to not let a meteor break your spirit. with a little more context, the boss is actually like, the queen of the last city on the planet who has succumbed to defeatism and believes that humanity has no future, and you're basically in opposition of this and believe that there is a future for the world, which makes the lyrics even more fitting. make a choice, fight against your fate.

The boss fight is you against the former ruler of the world turned into an ice witch with THE flaming lance that was used centuries prior to prevent the city from freezing over.

She had basically given up, and even the Amber Lord had given up as well, but our character is once again reigniting the will of Preservation, to once again reignite the will to survive

Its not only the music and the drop that made the fight chilling, but also the fact that the story of the 1 planet is pretty good for gacha game. Sadly the second planet seems like they swapped the writers for the story, this is sad, its way worse, but i hope they will compensate it in the next patch

I think the second planet suffers from what most stories suffer from when they dump you right in the middle of a disaster, I personally don't mind that approach but I definitely see it as a more difficult method of story telling as there is so much to cover all at once, which leads to confusion
