I played drums for 15 years in my youth-I'm 69 now. I no longer play but drums remain a passion and are always the first thing I hear when a song comes on. There are so many great drummers-for me: Borlai, Harrison, Coleman, Portnoy, Phillips, Donati to name a few. But in all my years I've never experienced a drummer/musician that has as original a take on the instrument. Everything he does is intentional. His headspace is simply unreal. Love the enthusiastic, informed commentary of your reactions.

Carey is great, but he doesn’t command an insane audience like siberiano does. Nobody wants to watch Carey play the same ol drums. He’s great at his job but he’s not reinventing the wheel. Siberiano is a step above the rest. They will all be learning from him in order to not get left behind.

@@jimmylarge1148 They are both AMAZING in their own right. I don't think you understand JUST HOW AMAZING Carey is in regards to creating drum parts that are mind melting opposing time signature changes with each one of his limbs. Not trying to take anything away from Jorge, because he is really good at odd ostinato patterns, as well. Carey walked so El Estipario could run.
@AnthonyBowman

El Estepario Siberiano's precision and accuracy in his kit mobility and limb independence is second to none. He is laser precise regardless of the pattern or tempo. But he puts in the work to do it. When he's not touring, he's practicing 6 to 8 hours a day, every day, and he has been for like 15 years according to one of his previous videos. He's got all sorts of groove, creativity, personality, and vibe, but he also has the dedication and work ethic to maximize his potential. He's earned every plaudit and compliment he's gotten. The hype is real.

i think part of his charm is the fact he is not a metal drummer or anything...He used to play in one of those bands that attend weddings and town's parties.. He learned more than 250 popular and traditional songs of many diferent styles while working as a profesional drummer in said band. This means he has played so many diferent styles, so many diferent styles the average drummer simply will never learn.. And this is why i think his aproach to music is so diferent than the rest of drummers you see around.
@darrkstarg
@darrkstarg Жыл бұрын
@@TrikipumI agree. His exposure to different styles and his working those styles into his own playing has absolutely been a component of his playing. Also you got to look at his practice video's. He shows people how to do what he does. He also doesn't believe in "talent". He always makes sure to impress that practice is what got him where he is. He even has a video where he goes over old drumming videos and commenting on his own development as a drummer and how it has changed over the years.

@@Trikipum He started out learning metal and is still a huge metal fan tho. Yes, he plays many styles but his core is definitely rooted in metal. You can hear it in almost everything he plays. Look at his old video about how he started, he has videos of him younger almost all of them playing metal.

What do I think? He's the best drummer on this planet. Not only is he the most technically precise, he has an such incredibly positive attitude and he inspires others to get better at their craft. His playing is tasty as hell and he is dedicated to drumming and on top of all that, he is humble. It is inspiring to me (and others I am sure) that he admits he is not perfect. His message is that what we end up watching is the end result of countless hours of hard work, practice, frustration, patience and dedication to "nailing" a performance. Not to mention what you said about his 1 million sub video...the years it took him to get to where he is now. I've been playing for 40 years and I cannot pull off what he does. Not even close. However, I didn't put in the amount of hours that he has. He found his limitations and blew past them. I cannot fathom all the frustration he felt throughout those days, weeks, etc. to break through that ceiling. I could only imagine the happiness he felt when he figured it out and discovered what he was capable of doing. He deserves all the success he is receiving! The man is simply on another level that most will never attain. Best drummer in the world and nobody could change my mind on that. Great video sir!

I'm a major fan of his. I used to have a hearing condition that allowed me to hear all notes more or less at one level. I could hear across a crowded room all at the same level. This made me an audiophile fanatic. I absolutely love his drumming. Every single note from every single song is exactly the same. He is extremely consistent with absolutely everything. His creativity is next level. I consider him one of the best because when you add everything together, all he does, all how he sounds, what he has is rare. Doesn't mean others can't do it, or aren't better. But what he does and with the music he does how he does it, I just absolutely love his videos.

Not a drummer so it's great to hear the pro breakdown of what he's doing. I am a guitarist who's a frustrated drummer (thankfully my grade school teacher took one look at my technique and didn't let me join the drum squad) and I've always loved interesting drummers who "say" things in their music instead of just playing (great or average). KZbin is really great in that you get exposed to elite musicians who you would never see otherwise if their band wasn't successful (and even if it was, there are so few Van Halen's out there that get to be so creative on albums). This guy, Charles Berthoud on bass, a bunch of amazing guitarists, Dan Vasc (Brazilian singer) and Morissette Amon (Filipina singer) just make me love music so much more than before because it's skill and creativity on a level I will unfortunately never achieve, but really appreciate. I think one of the greats feats of ESS is that he makes visible what the highest level of human genius looks like, in the sense that he literally visually shows the almost incomprehensible level the very best of the very best are at in their craft, that one can only witness in awe. Drumming is a great medium for that. Mind blowing.

I want you know that everything here musically is VERY COMPREHENSIBLE. I think that ESS has the attention of the public that really don't have any insight into percussion and don't know how to articulate what they are seeing/hearing. There are definitely levels of amazing things going on here but to say it's not understandable just is wild. There are loads of drummers that play significant levels of musical difficulty that are very confusing to process and would cater to your description of being nearly incomprehensible. What we see here is a great display of musicianship that is also ACCESSIBLE to the public eyes and ears. To me, that is what he is genuinely a genius for.

That single to double drum in your face is amazing! 😮 Doesn't overpower the song, it absolutely compliments it. Remember, this percussion track was from a studio electronicly, not a drummer. That's impressive.

What inspires me the most in his playing, is how melodic it all seems, and that he does it with a fairly simple kit. Btw, nice reaction! I thoroughly appreciate your ”music first”-perspective.

I really like the way you break it down. I’m not a drummer, well, I’m pretty good at leg drumming lol, and I have a basic understanding of music, but you make his work even better by explaining it the way you do. I’m a big beatbox fan as well which is why I started seeing your content, so for me I’d love to see more of this legend and more beatbox videos, cheers!

I thoroughly enjoy how you celebrate the obvious work that others invest in their video productions! It is encouraging and refreshing in the midst of all the criticality and hate that out there. THANK YOU!

My favourite music reaction KZbin creator lends his ear to one of my favourite professional drummers on social media (you're up there also , DrumRollTony). Hearing you truly explain the drumming technique involved and required while also providing your composition and conduction expertise in understanding the bigger picture Estepario manages to also encompass, was beautiful to watch. Love how you grinned like a child being inspired for the first time :D

@@DrumRollTonyReacts Tough one.. Too many things mate. A longer reaction, 20-40min, could work to cover a few of them perhaps. Some of my favorites, chronologically: the cost into the drone, baddadan, believer, feel good, godzilla, soad question, hot for teacher, all his AAL, dream theater enemy inside.. (you already did Muse and The Weekend) Literally anythin this dude touches turns to gold. I love his older stuff as well, ie his old version of DT enemy inside, shows him screaming and building tenacity and endurance. Very entertaining. Amazing to watch.

So perhaps a comparison of the old enemy inside, and then the newest enemy inside ? shows quite a bit of growth and maturity. Just an idea, it honestly doesnt matter that much which one you would pick. There are so many tracks he covered I would have never listened to on my own. Lets take 'AHA Take on me' for example, never liked that song, i find his cover so good I could listen to it any time. Also his 'Muse knights of cydonia', it's simply not something I would play often, yet i've listened to his cover at least 30x

I'm a guitar player. There is nothing better than playing a gig with a great drummer. This is beyond anything I've ever seen. In guitar there were 2 game changers. Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. They came in and they changed everything. Again I'm not a drummer but in my 60 years I think there have been 2 Game changers on the drums. One was Buddy Rich and the other was the professor. There has not been a third game changer on guitar yet. I think we are witnessing the third game changer for the drums.

Congratulations on hitting 200K subs Tony!! woo Hoo! Now great reaction to this video. I think EES took a page out of Thomas Langs' book, with having the idea of a live drummer having the ability to sound like a drum machine. He does a great job of coming up with creative ostinatos leaving them and coming back to them. You are spot on with his fluidity and consistency across the drums, that is very hard to do! And the MONEY BEAT! yeah totally in your face and driving. He is awesome to watch and listen to!

The gravity blast is two parts. Starts on low snare and finishes on high snare. Same with leading into that flip trick, hard roll on high snare finishing with the pedal in dual mode. So clean you barely notice.
