Man, that part when he admits to being terrified of playing Human-era stuff and getting Sean's 8" tom....you can feel the love and emotion...got to see Gene Hoglan at a free clinic in Nashville in July at the Guitar Center...so much greatness and influence and conne tion to the Death institution...had to pause the episode to type this...great attitude and sure he's fantastic and does everything justice...keep the great content coming!

I had never heard of Gus until I just watched this. Many thanks for the interview Phillip, I am super stoked to have heard what he had to say. I'm going to have to dig into his history, which seems extraordinarily large! Can't believe I haven't heard of him before, but what a great attitude to playing and life in general.

Great interview, great guy and drummer. He really interpretes the death classics very well. I was very happy to have seen left to die live recently. It was magic .

Gus always reminds me of Reinert in Death, jazzy flow that hits like a truck.
