Being that I've been playing drums for over 30 years my influences are a mile long, everybody from Steve Jordan to Vinnie Paul to Matt Apts. But this guy is by far my favorite new drummer in the past 10 years. I dare anyone to challenge this man's power and musicality and his Incredible Hulk meets Bruce Lee type of style.

@Lightbringer I would not say he is very slow. I also wouldn't say he's very sloppy either, his intensity is quite precise. Having said that though, I wouldn't put him above people like George Kollias, Hannes Grossmann, Derek Roddy, Flo Mounier, Gene Hoglan or Tomas Haake. Just off the top of my head. Eloy is a damn good drummer but the bar is set extremely high in modern Metal.

hey Hugo, thank you so much! I really appretiate it and your comment came at the right time, because both metal drummers in general and me as an individual specifically are getting a lot of negativity in the comment section of the recent Steve Smith video on this channel. I know one shouldn't take those things personally but for me that's easier said than done. So thanks again! Reading your comment was really uplifting!

I've been a fan of Sepultura, and then later Soulfly, from their start. I might have been tempted to say that nobody could replace Iggor and that Sepultura could not exist without the Cavalera brothers...but it wouldn't be true. Eloy is a fucking monster on the drums and has made Sepultura every bit as potent as they were when they started. A perfect choice for that (almost) holy throne!

Eloy, you are top fucking shelf, man. Quadra brought me back to Sepultura. I have to thank you for that, sir. I enjoy loads of drummers who utilize triggers. That said, a style that is fluid and hard hitting w/ out any"clicky drums"? Refreshing, indeed.

Power drummer extraordinaire...really one of the most 'convincing' metal drummers that combines phenomenal technique with distinctive rhythms and sheer agression that suits the music. How does he find the energy in both developing drumming skills and lifting weights 😄?
Was expecting him to talk about his appearance in MD fest 2005 and after that

sorry, but some questions asked to eloy were kind of pretentious:::: casagrande has nothing to learn from an interviewer. this guy is a full grown drummer, his technique is very, very, very on point...in fact he's nothing short than amazing, the best in his category and some....his energy is endless,...i can't understand how he can maintain that level of accuracy, clean playing, speed while playing that hard.
