I see there is some comments thinking the man who was with his girlfriend was the driver. That is not accurate. The driver fled from the crash. The man with his girlfriend were passengers and friends of the driver. The drunk driver was giving them a ride home but got them involved with the chase. Hopefully that clears up any confusion.

Can I just say, the way the boyfriend was comforting his girlfriend and making sure she was okay after they both went through that was impressive. Absolute respect to the man for staying so calm and collected when so many people would've been hysteric. A rare skill to focus on facts and others when going through a stressful situation. Not to take anything from the officers, they did amazing job as well even with the ridiculous pit restrictions and terrible judges that run rampant within the system valuing criminals more than law abiding citizens. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to always stay calm and take action in those stressful situations they may face at any moment.

It must suck to be the driver of that SUV and know that NMSP troopers had multiple opportunities to protect you from that crash but were actively prohibited from carrying through on the oath they took to lay down their lives to protect yours. It must suck further to know that a DA and Judge who both took an oath to uphold state laws took a fat shit on those laws by releasing the guy who tried to murder you the very next morning, probably with open access to personal information such as who you are, what car you drive, where you live... Add NMSP to the list of deadliest US states, where the criminals want you dead, and the entire judicial system exists only to help them get anything and EVERYTHING they want.

Got robbed once at gas station job I had. Midnight shift. Was doing normal cleaning duties, had another worker there, younger, pregnant, she was stocking walk in cooler. Guy came in hoodie on, bandana across lower face. Was white guy, that much I could tell. Pulled a gun out, said this was a robbery, grabbed me by back of work shirt, marched me back behind the one register. Luckily, slow night, only about $100.00 in drawer. Never even asked about 2nd register drawer. Then told me to get the he'll in the back room. So that's where I went till he left the store. I was bawling like that by the time I got back there, legs was shaking. We had to make sure robber still wasn't in store, then go and call 911. They got there like 5 minutes, luckily local police, and state police close by. I went back to work rest of shift and next night. Unlike some others, I didn't miss any work. I know its not the same thing. Would get alot of drunk drivers stop in, I reported them. Just looking out for other drivers is all. Your obviously not familiar with poor inner city criminals. He will be driving again the next day. He will go get another car with a dime down, have fake insurance, never get it tagged or pay the taxes and just keep doing that over and over. They will get the next one in their mommas name or their pawg girlfriends. Lots of little loopholes for people that have no morales or integrity. I know people like this. Stuff like this is just another day for them. Cops and prosecutors won’t actually do anything until they kill somebody.

Having no license or no insurance hasn't stopped a lot of people from driving. Usually it's the dumbasses that speed or DUI that get caught without one or both.

These clowns don't care. One example I arrested a DUI who killed a woman. He had 4 previous DUI's. Laws need to get progressively more punitive. Instead lawbreakers are coddled and let loose to commit further crimes.

Wtf. She was an innocent passenger involved in a 100+ mph car chase, and then a horrific crash. You'd be crying like a baby too
