There's a legal principle that states that an aggrieved party is obligated to try to mitigate their damages. Since they knew he was moving out months in advance they were obligated to try to find another roommate but for whatever reason they chose not to and are now trying to sue. The plaintiffs may be wearing suits and ties but they're not good people. They were trying to milk situation for all they could instead of just being happy he was gone. This is why I love JJ, she sees through things like nice hair cuts and suits and ties.

@@sothathappened I agree both sides holds some accountability, but why are they in court? Have you thought about that, or is your mind too myopic to understand it. Who brought the lawsuit? Why? The defendant was willing to walk away and count his losses, but the "bullies" weren't through bullying, so they wanted to squeeze more out of the defendant and got Karma. Again, it takes two to tangle, but my point, which you were toooooo narrow minded to notice, was that there would not even be a case if the plaintiffs didn't file the lawsuit against the defendant. I've litigated, both personally and professionally. I've been the plaintiff and the defendant, but I've never lost a case. This case should never had been filed, which is what Judge Judy was pointing out. I don't really expect you to understand...LOLOLOLOL....it' probably too complicated a concept for you to grasp...LOLOLOL

As someone who ran mainly with the preppy crowd in high school and college, that’s the vibe the plaintiffs give me. The mentality is that if you come across as the polished, respectful All-American kid that you can pull wool over the eyes of older people. Their internal biases will incline them to take your side especially if you paint the other person as the opposite. It usually works like a charm, and the worst of preppy kids can play most adults like a fiddle. If the kids are disciplined for something, it’s usually less severe. That’s why they were dumbfounded their frat boy charm doesn’t work with JJ.

Boy oh boy, have I had some very difficult roommates in my younger life. I lived with four roommates for over two years. I was the "owner" of the home. Every single one of them was young, stupid, and difficult. All those experiences did was motivate me to work harder and make more money to be able to pay my mortgage on my own. This all happened to me in the early 90s. A lawsuit(s) would have just been a distracting waste of time. Fix the damage, take the rent loss $$$, and move on. Life is too grand to waste time on foolish people.

The defendant had paid his rent and they had mutual agreement he will move out for good. They discussed this before he moved out and had 4 months to find a new roommate..this should be a good solution but both the plaintiffs just had nothing to do with their life so they decided to sue him..
