Drunk Man VS Train...

A man in La Crosse, Wisconsin during Oktoberfest gets lost while walking to a friend's house after partying downtown. He passes out on a railroad bridge and is run over by a train. Miraculously he is not injured, and only receives a trespassing citation for his near-death experience.

There are three levels of injuries on a working freight railroad. 1) Not a scratch 2) fairly bad often including broken bones 3) parts missing and/or dead. There is nothing else in between. This guy fell somehow through a miracle into the first category. AMAZING!

A buddy of mine high on opioids and benzos nodded out on the tracks waking home one night. He was a huge guy, it severed on of his legs above the knee but he survived, healed up and got a prosthetic and got around pretty good. He even wound up being on an episode of Intervention. Neither the train nor intervention worked. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Had a friend that used to walk the tracks home from the bar. One night she tripped and smashed hee head on the rails knocking her out. She laid on the tracks and was ran over by the train cutting off her legs and a hand. She survived another 6 months or so. Stay away from RR tracks when drinking.

Id say stay off the rails regardless. If you use a railroad as a means of navigation you could walk next to it. It is illegal to be on the traintracks here. And theyd sent security the second they spot you on one of the cameras walking on the rails

@@johghn3636 I would say never assume, its fine if you know it is, like near me there is about a few hundred meter stretch of rails, on one and small stream that used to have a bridge over it, on the other they cleared the plot and built a houses. Pretty sure no train is going to hover over the stream or go through the houses to get onto that stretch of rails.

Seriously! We live not far from tracks! The crazy stuff that happens is mind-boggling! Road runs along, but walks down tracks instead!😢 Never ends well! This guy in a bridge seems to have had a space for his drunk frame to meld into so he didn't get taken out by the cattle guard, tanks, etc! But dang it also looked like he could go through at some spots! Hope he learned to watch his intake & stay off of tracks or bridges when he doesn't!

WOW. I lost my bf after his wheelchair got stuck on the tracks and he was killed by a train. Theres a crossing nearby that seems to have a death every other month. Usually someone drunk walking on the tracks. This guy must have done something right in his life to warrant surviving this without injury.

​@@SooperTrooper100I would say Chicago and the whole Chicagoland area like Schaumburg, Norridge, Arlington heights,etc. part of Illinois absolutely and totally beats the crap out of any part of Wisconsin. The gym and stores are open later, there's much more to do and many more places to go, you don't have to drive 30 minutes to an hour to get somewhere, there's many more job opportunities.. Illinois just beats the crap out of Wisconsin in every way possible. People drive like absolute garbage here and the taxes are trash, but that's about all I can complain about, whereas my list with Wisconsin would be many feet long with complaints.

I never understood how drunk people seem to survive crashes with next to no injuries while the people they hit die. When I was in college finishing labs etc, my A&P professor explained drunks are usually so loose and don't resist the impact due to the impairment that they're basically crash dummies.

You would see more in other states if they allowed their body cams on YT. specifically look for your state and watch all the body cams and see how you all look through a cops cam.

I saw a dummy get creamed by a freight train. He was drunk af. He'd dropped my brother off because my brother insisted. We couldn't stop him, he went roaring off belligerent and stupid. It was like a movie; the train coming, the dummy accelerating to meet it. The engine hit him right where the truck cab and bed meet and tore it in half. The cab flew into the graveyard with dummy on board. We hastened to the scene to find a big flatbed car across the tracks and dummy wandering around the graveyard drunkenly shrieking my brother's name.. The only way to get to him was under the flatbed, or over the coupling, both of which were vibrating and creaking because of the multiple train engines still running. My brother and I looked at each other and went back in the house, called 911 and let the cops deal. Dude came out without a scratch.

Saw this here in England a young girl 15 jumped on the tracks at our station I didn't watch but I saw her pop up after & was unscathed she was having problems and was taken away to be assessed. sadly days later she jumped off a building in another city and died. it was a crazy night, I never thought anyone could fit under a train with traction motors and those end plates on US locos but some people manage it. I know I watched a fitter crawl under a loco static and couldn't believe he could do it to check the motors for electrical damage but again some people seem to be small enough to fit under a loco.

Drunks are so limber and floppy due to intoxication that when they hit other vehicles the people in that vehicle often sustain severe injuries or death while the drunk driver walks away with scratches. It seems this applies to drunks versus train as well.

I would have insisted on EMS and a CT. If he received a traumatic brain injury / concussion from the fuel tank underneath, between the truck/bogey assemblies, he would not remember it and be in significant shock. He might be lying because he drunkenly made a mistake and realizes he is in trouble, but he might also be in intense distress with a TBI. Empathy and compassion are warranted here.

Usually some evidence of injury. There was none & he was pretty sure the train didn't touch him when in motion! Medics checked pupils etc & he appeared fine other than drunk. He didn't want to go to the hospital & they couldn't make him, especially without cause! He stayed with an officer monitoring him for sometime before dropping him off, & he was just drunk. They can't force care!

I think a lot of us have a train story. Back in high school a girl got hit walking on the tracks while drinking and died. I had my own “Stand By Me” moment. Wasn’t drinking. With a couple of friends. We were 11- 13. We walked the tracks right over the river on the train bridge. Stopped in the middle. My two friends climbed down the trestle. I was too scared to so was waiting for them to come back up. Of course now I hear a train horn. F*^k!! I never ran so fast in my life. I get to safety at the end of the bridge and move over in the wooded area. I’m still hearing the horn but no train comes by. Ever! Obviously it wasn’t coming over the bridge and was continuing on some other track. Yeah I always seemed to learn the hard way eh?
