I hv a 30 y/o nephew I hadn’t tlkd to in a while. I spent 2 hrs New Year’s Eve trying to understand his explanation abt our govt names, the upper/lower case spelling of your name, difference in being a person or individual & all the other bs. It gave me a headache & I was so confused. All I got was the constitutional rights says I can do what I want & I follow the laws as long as they benefit me but I don’t hv to follow laws I don’t like & it’s unlawful to hold me accountable when I break the law bc I’m not a US citizen even tho I was born here & I acknowledge the validity of the US constitution for American citizens. They hv to all sit around stoned trying to make it make sense.

So there's not a lot of point in snarking about a disability that isn't readily evident in a given moment. Especially as people abusing disability as an excuse know all of this perfectly well, and will -- as bullies and abusers do in a heartbeat because they LOVE gaslighting and distractions -- use it to deflect the criticism and make the critic seem like the bad one. That's just playing to a bully's prewritten playbook, and you *never* win by playing to their script (because the script is crafted to dismiss all criticism). Much better to focus squarely on the asinine behaviour and refuse the distractions. Then your aim will be true and you can service the target.

@@dadsapp Legal IDs have to be issued from a *recognized* and *legitimate* authority (which usually means a government body, but not always). And yes, there are laws about using false documents and forging credentials (including passports, identification cards, and driver licenses) that all of this falls into. One cannot make up their own passport/ID/driver licence as Kim Blandino did or purchase one from an organization with no legal standing, like what this individual did, and expect it not to be considered fake, fraudulent, of illegitimate.

If, by contrast, she purchases a forged state driver license from someone in China and then proffers that as a legitimate document, then it WOULD be a criminal offense. If I can present a library card as evidence of ID, then what prevents me from presenting one issued by the local Moose Lodge? Presenting ID credentials issued from an unrecognized authority is not a crime, forging credentials from one is. If the Cherokee nation issued driver licenses and had reciprocity with the state or federal government the document would have to be accepted. Likewise, Canadians can lawfully drive in this country due to treaties and accords we have with Canada.

@@dadsapp No, a library card does not actually count as legitimate ID. An officer can accept it to get the correct spelling of your name and run it through the system, but it isn't legitimate for the purposes of when ID is required. In Canada, there are lists of what is acceptable that counts as ID, a library card would not be sufficient on allow one to vote, just like a passport isn't sufficient on its own. A drivers licence or any other government issued picture ID is good enough as long as it has your address. The problem she had is that what she presented was, at best, a novelty ID (sovcit ID) not an actual legitimate or recognized ID by any standard and certainly not valid to operate a vehicle. And yes, presenting this as somehow being relevant to driving is a form of fraud and against the law. The problem with getting unrecognized, illegitimate, or novelty ID is that the process to confirm who you are and your information is not an accredited one meaning it is easy to lie or manipulate information. It would be like trying to pass off a Blockbuster rental card as ID, to which it isn't. That ID had false information and credentials on it, therefore it is fraudulent, just like Kim Blandino's had false information and credentials on it, why is why he was charged, because he presented it as driver's licence. And no, we do not have the liberty and freedom to do whatever we want. There are rules and laws that govern most things that we must be compliant on, otherwise charges could be filed and one could end up with fines and/or jail time because of such misguided beliefs.

For your information sovereign citizens consider themselves a citizen of the state they reside in and not a citizen of the federal system which they feel deprives sovereign (state) citizens of many of their rights. In order to become a sovereign citizen you have to renounce social security and any other federally supported program or service. There is a logic to it in their minds and they really believe that non sovereign citizens are duped, coerced and controlled by the federal system. When I was young and impressionable I researched this subject. If you have no knowledge of why they are acting in this way then it is easy to conclude that they are irrational. I assure you that there is a basis for their actions whether they are right or wrong.

The authorities really need to come down hard on this “sovereign citizen” ridiculousness. They need to speed up the time it takes to get these people refusing to show ID’s, registration and insurance arrested. I appreciate the care these police take but these people are taking up time that police could be dealing with serious crimes. As a person who pays to be licensed, car registered and pays insurance (on a minimal income) I want those who think laws don’t apply to them to be charged when caught and prosecuted if it happens again.

Honestly you'd be surprised, these gurus, teachers, prophets, attorney general's etc. are often more sincere about their beliefs than people you see getting arrested. These people might given this BS another chance or two after it fails but eventually enough legal failures will dissuade them of their delusions. The people at the top can observe failure after failure for decades and never even consider they're mistaken in their beliefs. SovCits, at you might imagine, were far more infrequently encountered pre-internet, and I was actually impressed that this officer clocked her as one right away, because this isn't something law enforcement is usually trained for (unless the department has had a significant incident with them in its past). Hopefully, the greater exposure online will lead to police departments and courts developing training on identifying SovCits, Moors, and people who are SovCits but don't like the term so they insist they aren't,* knowing the unique risks attendant to each group, and exactly how to handle the most common scenarios officers/judges/court staff will face with them. * (and, of course, differentiating these people from normal people who are just more libertarian)
