I just bought this machine and set it up last night. One of the most overlooked instructions tend to be with the bed leveling technique. It took me hours to figure it out right even after reading the instructions, watching youtube videos etc. Help yourself out and tighten the bed dials to about halfway the length of the springs (compress them to be about half their length) then you have room to adjust the bed without everything becoming loose. Once the springs are compressed, set z stop and then paper test. (it worked for me this way) Started printing the dog about 40mins ago...only 5 hours left .LOL

Very well presented! I assembled mine two days ago, didn’t look on the sd card, pity. Was baffled by the little blue “cable clip” and did put it on properly but only by chance, now I know I was lucky. I did one thing differently, I didn’t fasten the screws for the vertical extrusions all the way until I had fitted the top cross section. This way all the screws went in easily and there was no tension to distort the frame. And yes, it was my first printer and it took an hour. Might have been quicker if I had more space to work with. Bed levelling is poorly explained in the printed manual. Tension setting isn’t clear either. My x axis had to be adjusted because it was wobbly and I had to disassemble the bed to see what has to be done to adjust this, turns out there are two off centre nuts that do this. Not in the manual either. I printed the maze first, very small part so I thought it a good one to start with. Worked ok, lots of strings with the supplied filament. Thanks for explaining the bed levelling, the manual implies that the z axis limit switch sets the bed position. Really wish they only had 3 screws instead of 4. You never did connect to the USB to check the version, did I miss it?

I got mine about 2 weeks ago and it is very good. Only problems I have had were bad print planning on my part or idiot mistakes. I have only been printing PLA for now on it and it loves the glass build plate. The Cura Ender 3 profile makes every print so far with great results.

Very good video i am new to 3D printing. I didn't see your video until after i had put my V2 together. I did notice how well the prints stuck to the bed and like you had a hard time removing them until (after several prints), i let the bed completely cool down all the way. After letting them cool down found they come off with very little effort. Have installed octoprint on a raspberry pie 4 (most likely overkill) and love being able to print without having to constantly removing and insert the microsd card. Again thanks for the very informative video.

My Printer arrived today. Finished assembling it. You mentioned under extrusion in your review. I ran out 100mm of filament. Actual length was 87.5. So some quick math 100/87.5 x 93 ( extrusion ratio) = 106.8. Changed extrusion ratio to 106.8 then run another 100mm. Result 100.6mm. Good enough. May help some of your viewers.

I like that you have access to the X limit switch, on the Ender 3 you don't have access to adjust the switch, on my Ender 3 the filament purge along the left-hand side is printed half on and half off because the switch is not positioned properly and I have to move the build surface further left so it is printed correctly, I could disassemble the x-axis assembly but is a lot of messing about just to adjust the limit switch, thinking about it I could stick something to the switch so it is activated earlier.

Great video! I received mine yesterday afternoon, assembled it in two hours, and printed a really nice Benchy before I went to bed. It's a great printer, but its my first, so take my opinions with that in mind! Some notes during assembly. ALL the things DrVax found I saw as well. I did not find the assembly video on the SD card until I was done, so can't comment on that. I was able to muddle through the confusing points, with some back-tracking and repeat attempts. I consider myself mechanically inclined and have a lot of experience with tools and complex assembly, so not too bad. It would be more challenging for someone less skilled. You will get the printer assembled eventually, but will it be optimal? The manual covers all general topics, but there are specific areas where more (any!) additional info would help. For example I took the entire tensioner apart (and it only goes back together one way) without realizing I could have just threaded the belt through it had some ORDER of assembly been listed in each section. I had one bolt of each of the main sizes left over at the end - presumably spares. The paint scraper provided does appear to be damaging the bed - I will not use it anymore and will switch to drvax's razor scaper method. As CHEP's video states, keep most of the screws finger tight until you're ready to lock that section down. With the main gantry and structure do the tightening at the end. I noticed that the printer had a very slight wobble on its feet while sitting on a flat surface. I loosened the 4 bolts on the side (left or right, does not matter - the ones in the horizontal beam near where the vertical supports are mounted), pressed it hard onto the surface to take out the slight twist, and re-tightened the bolts. During assembly I checked the tightness of ALL the major FACTORY bolts. While none were loose, many were inconsistent with their mates in the same group. It's like the factory guy did the first one tight, and then did the next 3 of the 4 in that group as fast as possible. RE-TORQUE all of the factory bolts in the structure.

Great review! I have had mine for almost 2 weeks now, and it is putting out some really great prints..However, there is one flaw I have discovered, and that there is not a 'Resume' function..I paused a print to correct a jam on the filament reel, and discovered NO resume..Only Pause or Stop..So far that has been the only time I have had to pause a print, but it was frustrating to discover that the 'resume' function wasn't there..Especially 2 hours into a 6hour print...Other then that, I would recommend this 3D Printer, giving it a 9 out of 10..

26:36 on the home screen, what is the bottom left icon (100%) info? I assume feed rate... but it seems to change to higher percentages randomly? (Firmware V0.0.9) I do not think its the fan speed? Haven't printed yet, but maybe its feed rate with knob during printing? No live XYZ coordinate feed either like Ender 3???? A good thing about the new display, it's moved forward more and out of the way in order to easier get to the far right leveling wheel now from the front right side instead of rear! : ) EDIT: I think the lower left icon with a percentage reading is the PRINT SPEED. The same icon which looks like a speedometer under TUNE while printing is also this. The FAN SPEED icon looks like a fan (or actually more like a boat prop) under TUNE also. I guess to turn THE FLOW RATE up or down like the Ender 3, you have to go into TUNE and SPEED... versus the nice and faster old way of doing it at the home screen. EDIT: yes, once printing, you can TUNE the SPEED to 999%. Not sure while NOT printing, when just going through the menu this SPEED rate would go from 100% the 285% or so the something like 750% or so???? Still in Firmware 0.0.9 so may be a glitch... but while printing it now stays consistent 100% unless changed. Once I update later, will report back.

A safety warning. I found that my ender3 v2 had no AC earth on the metalwork of the printer. The black powdercoating seems to be insulating the PSU case from the metalwork of the printer. The nearest grounding link I found was the long screws into the 40x40 extrusions which hold the PSU support frame. I linked a wire from the AC ground terminal to one of these screws. The printer now tests ok.
@niklasbernegger8627
@niklasbernegger8627 3 жыл бұрын
No need to do that. Its not a safety concern since the PSU is connected to gound wich is the only point that has 230V AC. 24V DC circuids don't need to be grounded. Per law it is required to ground electrical componets upwards from 50V AC or 120V DC. The PSU is grounded so all is good otherwise these Printers couldn't even be sold here in europe. Glad ure thinking about these kinda things tho ;) keep it up

Interesting question I have also been thinking about. I just bought the V2 as my second printer (with my first an ANET A8, if you want to talk about learning...). I think the updates that come with the V2 are already worth the "premium" of $100 or so (if you buy a V1 and want to upgrade you will also roughly spend that amount, the heatbed upgrade is already $30-40 or so). So if you can afford it and find the upgrades in the V2 useful I'd go for the V2. As community support around this machine is likely to grow, I think there is still enough to learn and upgrades to come (like BL touch!). Finally (and I'm not 100% sure about this), it seems excisting ender-3 upgrades are still compatible with the V2 version. Hope this helps!

@@kees6 that kind sir, was the answer I was looking for, that was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for your feedback and opinion. Till now everyone said, "you should buy what you think it's best for you" but no one can explain why. So thank you

Thank you for the review. I am stuck between choosing a Anet ET4(a4988): INR 16400 ($217), Ender 3 V2:INR 2300 ($306), mainly because of the large difference in price, features and availability. Anet ET4 seems to offer more features like filament sensor, auto-levelling. there are people who are trying to port marlin2 to Anet ET4 (github.com/davidtgbe/Marlin). Ender 3 V2 coming at almost 50% costlier to Anet ET4 only has a more silent driver and probably slightly better build. Do you still suggest that I switch to Ender 3 V2?

The Ender 3 is popular and overrated. It did not revolutionize low cost 3D printers or was the first of its kind to sell in the thousands at $200. At best it can be called a popular bare bones hobby printer kit. - I like the iterative progression creality and other companies do with their printers. The ender 3 V2 is a good step forward with fewer compromises to lower costs compared to the ender 3. Great build guide, review, and disclaimer of the challenges of building kits as well!

Just ordered my first Ender 3 V2. But now my supplier tells me they discovered a main issue with the Ender 3 V2, and sent the whole lot back to Creality. During a long print job layer shifting occurs. Probably caused by overheating the stepper motor driver. They contacted Creality about this issue, but Creality does not have a solution and can't confirm the cause of the issue. So be careful when buying the Ender 3 V2 right now, wait till the issues are solved !!!

31:09 don't agree... easy to assemble... the trickiest part is the X axis assembly... that's it! But yes, if mechaniclly challenged, watch all the videos first or along with build! Easy breezy! Check out Just Vlad assembly! The best so far along with BV3D... then RuiRaptor soon! ; ) don't forget Tomb of 3D Printed Horrors!

For those of us that enjoy mechanical challenges and easily visualize assembling items I agree this should not be a problem. However the average person today has difficulty with IKEA book shelves. Many of these folks would enjoy 3D printing but if their first experience is assembling a 3D printer with poor assembly instructions this hobby will be a challenge. I think the Ender 3 V2 is an excellent printer. It would be even better if the assembly was as easy as an ANET ET4. The ET4 ships is a box that is about the same size as an Ender 3. They have just done a better job preassembling some of the tricky parts like the X gantry.

So basicly its a Ender 3 with a SRK E3 Mini installed and screen that does not quiet have the features of of the SKR TFT24 but is close. Would be a brilliant first printer without the minor issues of having to do the upgrade yourself to the SKR Mini E3 which is only a 10 minute job anyway,

The board is self-developed by Creality. Better deal than Ender 3 Pro... only $10 difference or same depending on where u get it. Even though cheaper. I wouldnt want the initial Ender 3 these days... the Pro and V2 have superior Mean Well power supply and the beefier Y axis profile. The V2 has 32 bit, color display, and silent drivers... no brainer. As cheap as printers are these days, no reason to sqwable.

Be careful if you want use to all the widely available upgrades that may ONLY work on the Ender 3 or Ender 3 PRO. The Ender V2 has some changes that won't work (yet) with certain upgrades. I.e. mounting holes in the print head plate, the new V2 has a different plastic cover, the Gulfcoast Robotics LED light doesn't work directly with V2 (yet) etc etc. The Menu is slow slightly different than what you may be used to with Ender 3. The plastic smaller knob feels cheap and comes off easy... i.e. get lost easily if you have sticky fingers! ; ) the plastic belt tensioners... the jury is still out. Great printer though... and better deal than Ender 3 PRO... but beware of what you may need to do. Also feels like a "finished Ender 3". Probably more so the injected molded plastic covers etc. Funny the so called CR-6 SE doesn't even have a plastic display cover. Always something stupid with Creality like that. I don't t know about the modular head... I think the Ender 3 V2 may be better to stick with long term and options that will be available like the original Ender 3.

I just got mine as well, and the manchild, who claims can put together “anything”, took him1.5 hours, a lot of yelling and frustration! Lol! This is my 1st 3D printer, and I don’t have filament (just what Creality sent) as of yet (1st ?.. what type of filament do u suggest?) and the SD CARD(I kno dumb questions) sound like an idiot, but where does that belong?
