Over the years I’ve dried and made wet wood burn by using fatwood, dead standing, Gorilla tape, articles of clothing, etc. I’ve also cut away wet bark or batoned to the dry center of wood. Unnecessary! There’s an easier way. If there are plenty of mostly dry leaves around, they will supply all the energy, all the heat that you’ll need to make wet wood dry and burn. Today’s 8” of wet White Oak, I turned into a Chinked Log Cabin Fire Lay and made it burn from only 4 balls of leaves and a tinder bundle. Please follow the LINKs below and SUBSCRIBE. Thank You! Just went camping myself, in Coromandel, NZ. Collected a nice bit of punk-wood charcoal from 4 evening fires. Part of the ritual in starting the fires was collecting the tinder/firewood, and fill the char container with material. Found a good rotting log. It was quick firing wood on the last fire of the camp.

Nice job David. We are so lucky here in Nova Scotia to have ready access to Paper Birch. You can throw birch bark in a bucket of water, take it out dripping and it will light. It makes smoke like a tire fire but burns hot. I practice making fires a couple times a week but I had to stop using birch bark in my tinder bundle because it makes it way too easy. Got my first flame today with a steel striker and a piece of Jasper - landed the spark on a piece of charred gun cleaning patch and transferred to a little charred rope in a small bundle of inner bark of a lilac.

What power reading glasses?

3 power but get the largest lens possible, physical size is what matters not power.

Good stuff brother! I was talking about your channel the other day and he couldn’t remember your name. He referred to you as “The Fire Man”.😁 I told him your name and I was already subbed. He’s now binge watching too! 👊🏻🙏😁✌🏼🔥
