Navy Pier, Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park Zoo and North Ave. Beach for a day, Mag Mile, Urban Kayak, and every day there is a festival or free concert and movies in the parks, and the people. The people are actually VERY nice, unlike NY and LA. You need directions or help, just ask anyone! Chicago has to be one of, if not the best city on the planet. I've lived in NY and LA for many years, doesn't even come close to Chicago IMO.

AS for Fireworks go your right seems they do it a lot, however I did go to a fireworks display - launching at Grey eagle California, it was the first time I got emotion at a firework celebration. It was on the 4th of July, but it was like... I don't have the words just so incredibly awesome!

Chicago is one of those cities that has so much to do and see, you have to be prepared for an active few days/weeks and pepper in some downtime on the beaches or a boat to recharge. It can be overwhelming to many that dont arrive in the city ready for sensory overload.
@GetawayCouple5 жыл бұрын
That's the perfect way to describe it. We're from Los Angeles and that's the same way you should explore that city. We should have gone into it with the same mindset as LA but I guess we weren't prepared. It also didn't help that it was SO hot and sticky, so that put a damper on exploring on our bikes. We know we didn't do the city justice in this video and we want to return one day (maybe in the fall though lol).
@K2Kevin5 жыл бұрын
@@GetawayCouple The beaches and parks are a great free place to cool off when exploring, but hot days anywhere can be a real downer. Most of the parks, Millennium Park, Navy Pier etc. have water features/play areas. The river walk has a great tiki bar, good drinks, nice shade, live music and more. BTW, you stayed south of the city near the 31st. Street beach. Never my choice for a beach to visit, im sure you know what I mean. I have friends with a boat at that marina. I would suggest going north to ANY of the other beaches.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Most folks said we didn't give it a good enough try lol. We did enjoy our time there, I just think we weren't prepared for the weather. We'd love to go back and explore to get the real experience, just maybe in the fall next time lol.

Air in the fridge propane line can cause the fridge burner to not ignite. The solution is to turn on stove for a minute or two to purge the air after which the fridge should work normally. The sort of thing happens if you let the propane run out. Another common issue is a spiderweb in the fridge burner chamber causing the system not to lite. A can of compressed air can normally be used to clear the obstruction without having to disassemble the burner unit.

To the Camping Trucker...I’m a 62 year old proud Chicagoan, and I have NEVER been shot at, nor has any member of my family or friends! 95% of our neighborhoods are wonderful safe places to live & work. But, of course, that doesn’t get any attention so you paint the whole city bad bc of what you hear on the news. Please keep in mind that almost 3 million people live in my great & beautiful city.

Every city has it's good and bad, no matter where you travel. People just need to be aware of where they plan to visit.I heard terrible stories about Nashville and Memphis and both cities turned out to be the highlight of my road trip with my wife and 2 kids.I would go back to both of these cities in a heartbeat.

My first time coming across your channel and you're showcasing my hometown! LOL, yeah, 4th of July is more than a little crazy busy and HOT in Chicago. (August is traditionally even worse!) We lived about 2 blocks from the Bean for years -- since before there was a Millennium Park or a Bean ... raised our two kids there -- until we started our fulltime RV life 18 months ago. Your video made me SO homesick! (And I kept looking in the backgrounds, hoping to maybe spot my son, who still lives there.) Was the pizza from Giordano's? Or maybe Edwardo's?

Little tip for the propane, keep both tanks open all the time and put the selector to either one..now when that tank goes empty the indicator will turn red, the regulator will automatically switch to the full tank and run that tank, this way you never run out of propane provided you check the tanks once in awhile depending on use. You can remove the empty tank for filling just remember to switch the lever to the tank being used. Hope this makes sense, this actually is the way the system is set up to use so you never run out of propane and i`ve owned RV`s since the 1970`s and this has been the case since at least then i think. Love the videos you two do a great job !!

Indiana Dunes has always been Park Service. It may be that designation has changed from National Monument to National Park. Edit; Just texted one of my Park Service buddies that used to work on the fire crew at Indiana Dunes. Previously Indiana Dunes was a National Lakeshore (still part of Park Service system). The new designation was driven by political concerns in an effort to increase tourism. The new designation was opposed by the Park Service because it didn’t really fit into the category as a Park, but still fits into the category of National Lakeshores.

Timely video. I went to Indiana Dunes National Seashore last year and today I was looking for it on the National Park Service website and couldn't find it under Lake or Seashores, then found it listed under National Parks. Guys, if you’re natives of California you probably only had fireworks on Independence Day because that’s the only time they’re allowed in California. In most of the rest of the country fireworks are available year round. We lived in Texas when we were in school we saw fireworks available at almost every offramp. It was the same when we retired to Tennessee before we ultimately moved to Florida where it is also the same. So, if you want you can have fireworks for your birthday or anniversary or just about anything.

My question is what brand & size generator do you use on your rig? We are looking to buy our first full time rig and looking at used are specifically looking for one that has not been smoked in or had pets because my husband is allergic and has bad lung problems. We never expected to have to ask dealerships if they allow dogs in their new or used rigs I guess that will have to be the first question from now on. @timwoody38355 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if you’re full timers, but if you’re not then they’re probably covered under your homeowners insurance. They may also be covered by your automobile comprehensive insurance. Otherwise you may be able to get a personal items rider to your Rv insurance policy.
@floydcooley15 жыл бұрын
@@timwoody3835 nope. Not covered as we're full time. The policy covers bikes but not ebikes because they're considered a separate vehicle. Not under the RV or car policy. You did not give it a fair shake with your mixed review (everyone knows it’s hot & humid in July). And you try to get into the Dunes the week of July 4th??? That caused you to severely limit your access to the best areas, so you see the crappy stuff, & give it another “mixed review.” Most of the dunes are gorgeous, with no view of smoke stacks, and huge beaches. I’ve never even seen the part you were in! Sorry, I know you didn’t want people to get upset, but I had to get it off my chest😡😡😡
