Dry canning is not safe and places you at a higher risk of botulism, which is potentially deadly.
@suegeorge998 Жыл бұрын
@@charmc4152 I saw several videos on dry canning. One with potatoes and they used just a little bit of butter and seasoning. It interested me because I had never heard of it before. I certainly don't want to risk botulism though. They used a pressure canner and there was a seal. If there's a vacuum in the jar, how can anything grow? I'm trying to get information from you because you sound like you know what you're talking about. Can you please explain to me how botulism can grow in a sealed mason jar? CANNING POLICE !!! Loved it. No Salt No Spice JUST CARROTS So simple I would never have thought of this.. Thank you so much. I had several German Shepherds at one time and my hometown locker often had more meat scraps than I could use for muttley food. (I never feed them straight scraps but blend their dry dog food with cooked or canned meat scraps) I pressure canned several or more quarts at a time and reuse the medium flats or re-use the lug lids like you do. Have an occasional seal fail but I notice it and feed it out. (I ALWAYS use a red marker to date and label the jars for muttley food) Have some 11 years old with no problems . To much fat or to hot(High pressure) will let liquid out of the jar and compromise a seal. That will be obvious within 24 hrs. Common sense is what your video contains. Another thanks for this video.

I'm not Tess but I use lug jars all the time. Any kind of lug jars too. I Love them. You don't have to buy it first to tell if its the right kind. To see if its a lug jar turn it upside down and look right under the lip you can normally see the 4 lugs before you buy it. If you're in the US I'll give you a comparison. The next time you're in the grocery store, get a jar of Prego Alfredo sauce and a jar of Ragu spaghetti sauce and look under the lip. You'll be able to see the difference. Most pasta sauces in the US have lug lids. Classico actually use Mason jars. The biggest thing to remember about lugs is to tighten them down really good or they don't like to seal. Once I learned that I've never had a fail using them.

Have you ever dry canned squash or zucchini? I am hoping to find someone who has had success with this.

I typically dehydrate my carrots but I'd like to try your method here. Also, do you know if this recipe would work using persimmons? Thank you very much. 😊

I think persimmons would be to mushy, I have freeze dried my persimmons or you can dehydrate them. Thanks for watching

Hi, can this be done hot water bath canning, or does it have to be a pressure canner (i dont have it) ? Thanks

Yes you can but I think you have to waterbath for 3 hours. Do some research before hand.

Can i toss prepared carrots in a little butter before I place in jars?
@tessearle4828 Жыл бұрын
I haven't added butter before as I like the flavour of the liquid from the carrots.
