What is the wisdom in adding more weight to a dry fly in form of a plastic tube, when you can tie this straight to the hook?

Was wondering what the point of the sleeve was as well. I’m fairly new to tying and have never seen or heard of this

@@melissaspake7727 No offence to our very skillful host, but experiment comes to mind. Maybe dry fly with a tube would work in much larger salmon dry flies (bomber), but I really don't see any benefit to use it on smaller and lighter dry flies. The point of the plastic tube is hook changeability, and in this case experiment.

@@melissaspake7727 No problem. Happy to help. You should tie your dry flies as light as possible. Hook choice is very important. No need to tie em like tube flies!
