Have watched a few 'Ice Blast' cleaning videos, but if I had one I would clean my car, and my neighbours just to see their faces from the transformation. The benefit of no additional residue is massive. Would clean the shared block drive and my garden paving slabs. The external plastered walls, my trainers, planters, garden fence panels. The ice supply would probably be the only thing to curb my enthusiasm...

I used to work with a company that manufacturers and sells dry ice and the dry ice blasting machines you're using in this video. Companies like Serv-Pro (which is a fire restoration company) used them a lot because there was never any secondary residue to clean up. The ice would simply evaporate from it frozen state of -109°F/-78°C which is why you need protection when working around it.

Glass beads in a blasting cabinet is the best results for cast aluminum and steel. Glass will not contaminate the surface , leaves original cast marks and takes little time to get "like new" castings. Dip the parts in paint stripper tank (I used crysilic acid ) rinse with water and blow dry, glass bead the parts and voila! Clear coat with matt-flat-gloss as needed and finish will be bright for years.

We used Cold Jet at my old job to clean matched metal mold dies (up to 50,000 pound tools) and large screens for silk screening among other odd bits. It had to be done in a special closed room and the person operating had to be in a full environmental suite with pumped in air. Oh, and it was LOUD! The machine made its own dry ice pellets. It is now automated on a robot arm. We had also had a laser ablative system that was supposed to replace the dry ice machine, but that got nixed at the last minute for some very stupid reasons as it worked very well. The little guy you were using does an OK job for light stuff, but as you saw, was not up to the task of the amount of grime you were up against.
