@@Asmrshades me and you both. I am 4 days post op. I don't see a blood clot that formed. I see a hole with dry blood which I can assume because it's all the way in the bottom. Definitely seems like a hole with nothing on top. My other side (other wisdom tooth) is doing great. No severe pain. This is like constant pain. I think I might have a dry socket. I followed everything. I have eaten bland foods to the point that I have lost 10 pounds already. This is torture. Not doing any pain meds but I am on antibiotics.

I've been struggling with nasal congestion for years something tells me it was tooth related I feel much better now . But still find myself spitting up thick mucus at times . Ever since I got the extraction I've been spitting but nothing like I've used to, I do it gently whenever needed so the clot doesn't dislodge. So far everything seems good though.

I had a bottom molar extracted 4 days ago. The day after my extraction, I had throbbing pain which radiated to my ear. It was worse at night. I went to see the dentist two days after the extraction and he told me I had a partial dry socket. So, even though I followed all healing tips carefully, I still got it. I think it's because that tooth was infected before the extraction. I was on antibiotics before the extraction and they didn't help much. The dentist has placed a mesh dressing into the socket which provided me with instant relief. So, any idea how long it will take to heal? Thank You

My dad is diabetic and has had this issue after his wisdom tooth removal. He wasn't given any antibiotics for quite a long time. But now he's got an infection there and has been on antibiotics and painkillers for quite a while now. The pain resumes once the effect of the painkiller goes. He has a painless swollen gland-like structure on his jaw, under the ear, which some people say is a swollen lymph node. Is it dangerous/linked to some other disease? Thanks in advance.

Just had a bottom wisdom pulled, it is a swollen node, just have him put an ice pack wrapped in something thin on it for 20 minutes, ten minutes break, then 20 minutes again until it's gone down

I had my lower molar removed two days ago. The first day there appeared to be a large blood clot where the tooth once was. Now, I no longer see any blood clot but just the sutures over what appears to be bone fragments and gum, but again no blood present. Does this mean the blood clot washed away or is the blood clot not visible to the naked eye and underneath?

Also, at that time, I saw this white bone-like on the extraction site and immediately confirmed to my dentist that this was the bone socket. I really would like to ask what medicines should I take to ease the pain? Hi, sorry you are going through this, your dentist should be able to treat it with dry socket paste which is a clove base numbing solution, call your dentist tomorrow for this.

I had molar ( bottom ) removed on the 11th so I'm day 5 and the pain was worse by day 3 so dentist gave me metronidazole incase I had infection. It took him an hour to take my tooth out and 6 infections of anaesthetic but I could feel everything as infection was still there even though I'd previously had antibiotics for infection around Christmas time. My jaw and cheek bones were clicking out of place with each twist and pull. I've had 7 children naturally no drugs and this was so much more painful. I was hoping to be relieved from the constant toothache but here i am in much more pain now the tooth is out and struggling to cope. The metronidazole has not made a difference yet and codeine and ibuprofen barely touching it. Please help?

I saw the dentist the day after posting this and it wasn't a dry socket even though from the horrible pain I was having I believed it was. The pain was awful for 3 weeks then started to ease. Dentist said was because of the trauma of taking it out, the pressure, how long it took etc. Worse pain I've ever had! Still have pain in my cheekbones and jaw when yawning and still aches sometimes but at 44 years old and never previously being nervous of the dentist....I am now!

Hi i had this its freaking terrible. The dentist was closed for 3 days so a general practitioner recommended I use Tebodont gel which worked instantly and Clova Sept topical spray for pain. I abused painkillers (cataflam) which upset my stomach so bad. Reason for dry socket intense workout. Caffeine, fat burner, preworkout and vape juice

When can I finally stop worrying about dry socket? It's been 8 days since my tooth extraction. The odd thing is I was diagnosed with a dry socket by another dentist 36 hours after my tooth extraction and he prescribed me 875 mg of amoxicillin and Advil dual action pain relievers. 3 days later I went back to the site of my tooth extraction and was told after 4 days after a tooth extraction I was free of getting a dry socket. The only reason I went to a dentist 36 hours after my tooth extraction was I was having a little more pain than usual after tooth #20 was pulled. Luckily I haven't had as much pain since I started taking 875 mg of amoxicillin and Advil dual action pain reliever 250 mg. I've always been paranoid about getting a dry socket after a tooth extraction just want to know if after 4 days am i cleared of getting a dry socket.

I am not sure I have a dry socket I had my bottom right 1st molar pulled last Tuesday morning. my extraction site is doing good. I'm keeping it clean it's closing up the clot is still there. But I have developed a red streak along my gum line about 3 in Long I don't know what from I haven't had to take much pain medicine except for Tylenol and maybe a half one of my pain meds my jaw is sore. But nothing compared to what it was before I got my tooth pulled I finished up my antibiotics before I got my tooth pulled I was not prescribed any after it was pulled I have been rinsing my mouth with salt water. Can you please give me some advice? I did put a call into my dentist but I haven't heard back yet they were busy today.

I’m in the same boat an have been freaking out over my clot “receding” about 2mm from where I noticed it yesterday. There has been very mild pink in my saliva as well, but this is the first thing I’ve read that tells me deterioration of he clot at this time is normal. Thank you

I don't get it with this being a common issue caused by eating and smoking why doesn't the dentist cover it with something temporarily even if it takes more time to heal at least it will heal without complications

I had 4 Mollars removed but for the last one the dentist was in a rush to close before 4:30 and he pulled on the mollar too hard and I’m seeing something white on the top and it’s the only tooth that hurts even after taking 800mg Ibuprofen😢

Can the blood clot come out after almost two weeks and it’s all dried solid? Only have a small hole and it’s mostly healed(after sutures).

Luckily I don't smoke cigarettes but I do smoke marijuana don't think something with no chemicals will cause much harm hasn't yet anyway always take like drags from a clean pipe with gauze over the surgical site

And my brother got dry socket on day 4 after smoking for 3 days. He said it was some of the worst pain hes felt and should've just waited a few days.
