I think the short cord is an okay design because it makes it so that the wire does not drag on the ground where there is potential water

Neat tool!....but kinda wondering why anyone would spend.....any....$$$....on one of these dedicated car air drying blowers, if they have a leaf blower, which has a higher CFM? I am not buying when others say a leaf blower blows “ dirty air or impurities”. I have a 10 year old electric and a 20 year old gas leaf blower that blows water off my cars fine, no finish damage!
@HawaiiDetailing4 жыл бұрын
David Greenwood Thanks for the comment . Good points. I agree. I like this tool for the hard to get drippy areas. It’s small and quite and has its place but drying the whole car is not its strong suit. For that I use a microfiber drying towel and P&S beadmaker as a drying lubricant/ topper coat. I want the topper each wash and might as well dry the water at the same time.

Seems like a hybrid of a hair dryer and a compressed air gun. I’ll stick to using my air gun since I’ve already invested in a compressor but this seems like a great option for drying nooks and crannies like mirrors and wheels.

I really wanted to hate this product because I already owned the 8HP Master Blaster until I realized how cumbersome it was to use their hose inside a confined garage space. I wanted something compact to dry off water quickly during the colder months and a warm air dryer such as the Sidekick would be perfect. During the warmer months I generally use my Ego blower to dry off the car outside. I wouldn't expect the Sidekick to dry off an entire car in the same fashion but it is definitely a great mechanical drying aide. For the finer details this is a perfect tool for drying out areas missed in traditional drying methods before diving into specific projects.

I already have an air compressor is it worth it to buy this?
@HawaiiDetailing3 жыл бұрын
This tool is known more for its quick easy use of high pressure hot air without needing to fire up the compressor. The air is really hot so it dries things quickly. It is filtered air also. Some claim contaminants come out of the compressor depending on your filtration. I think you could get away without this if you have a good compressor setup. It would be a luxury. I do like it though. Thanks for watching.
@LoveLikeaHurricane2 жыл бұрын
I personally feel for what it is.....should just get a plug in leaf blower since you need an extension cord anyway.....which is "lighter/better balanced" and blows way more air for larger vehicles. Only downside is no filter, so should take extra caution

I like this tool for the wheels and smaller areas like the engine bay, door handles and emblems. Its a cool little tool. I use it a lot even though I have a leaf blower. Thanks for watching
@whitegoodman7465 Жыл бұрын
A leaf blower isnt the best for cracks and crevices because of the large mouth opening even if you get a stubby nozzle also its way heavier and louder to deal with just for cracks/crevices but the leaf blower def can be used more around the house for certain jobs. What im gonna use the sidekick for is drying out those cracks/crevices and wheels/tires as im towel drying panel by panel so i dont have to go back and redry the area.

Should I avoid using this on my car if I live in an area that has bad hard water? I want to buy one but am worried that If I dry with it I would end up drying the water and leaving all hard water spots behind.
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Great question. No it blows the water off and the heated air helps dry it some. I have never had spotting from this process. I mainly use this on tires and to blow out the hard to dry areas. Door handles, Emblems. Engine bays etc.

Like he said in the video. He would use a detail spray and micro towel to dry the car and use this tool along with a micro towel to get those tight spots later.

That’s the keyword you mentioned: treated paint. You guys... your car needs to be waxed and well PROTECTED in order to use any type of air to air dryer it! Otherwise it’ll be useless to air dryer it
@HawaiiDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I hope you enjoyed the video. I agree that a treated surface is an important part of using an air drying machine effectively. That is why I demonstrated on both treated and untreated surfaces. I hope that people who care enough to blow dry a car would definitely care enough to use a paint protectant especially with the more modern, easy to apply paint protection products available. They are inexpensive and also spray on and wipe off very easily.
