Dryads saddle, look for this mushroom on dead and dying deciduous trees, with its bird like unmistakable pattern, this mushroom is beginner friendly. To use this mushroom for culinary purposes its best to harvest it while its small, about palm size, as it gets larger it tends to get tough, however the outer rim of the mushroom is still usually harvestable (one - two inches) when found large, it can still be dehydrated, ground and used as spice or stock. That bird like design actually changes the flavor, so with a sharp knife I scrape off the design sometimes and the pores. Makes it taste different, I eat mushrooms because they're not only nutritious but medicinal. Best medicine I ever had, thank you!
