Nancy is a great example of the difference between comedy and humor. As Grady Nutt - one of our favorite humorists (RIP) - noted, "Comedy is the fun you make up. Humor is the fun you observe." Indeed, great humor can arise from the toughest, darkest moments of our lives, especially when we learn to laugh at ourselves in those situations rather than lashing out at everyone else. Having a sense of humor is not in most lists of virtues, but it is, and one that is desperately needed these days.

Such a complete Joy watching and listening to your twist to the trials of your life. I, too, at 64 am a firm believer that laughing and having a sense of humor is one of the important things in life. It will be 3 years in September without 1 day or 1 hour off, of 8-11 hour days. If you think that doesn't require a sense of humor, the patience of Job and great Faith...... Laugh til you cry, or through your tears. All that to say, Many Thanks for a break at the end of one more hard day.

So great. Now I'm never gonna forget the mites & tights either! Thanks for that... You know... I've also worked in Palliative Care and I too came away with a different perspective on life. But then I got busy... for a couple of decades... and kind of 'forgot'. And now I'm sitting here in semi-retirement with all these plans - on hold for no good reason - like setting up my painting studio and getting back to creating etc. etc. and you've just given me a great big boot up the proverbial. "Get off your arse and Do What You Love!" So Thank you for that - Seriously. I've also worked with prospective adoptive parents and your story about the corruption so endemic in many source countries should be more widely circulated. Educating people about ways to prevent falling into such traps and also ways to navigate if you find yourself in one. I know every case is different but the old forewarned is forearmed still holds true. I wonder how much information is shared amongst different Adoption agencies - both within countries and Internationally. Or perhaps (showing my age here!} this happens much more effectively now between parents on-line. Such a great story to share at the end. Much love to you and your son.❤

This feels so much like fate, I can’t believe it! My thoughts these days are with my beloved great aunt, the one person who understands my art, and who is now very sick, and in much pain. And she has a lazy eye, pointing upward and out, and when I visited her last, couple of days a go, she told me a story of how once, she had her Dad to herself, and they went down to the lake… there, the similarities end, she was only four at the time, it was even before WW1, and they just into a boat, and rowed and sang together. But to see this lady now, with her lazy eye and her happy disposition somehow does console my aching heart. I done all I could to help, and I feel like being sad is doing my aunt a disservice, so: many, many thanks to Nancy Norton!

You are one of the best dry bar acts i've seen. LOVE your style. My 12 year old son Jimmy, ADHD like you mentioned, but also ASD, is already doing amateur standup in DC in little clubs opening up for k bel, he's MUCH too mature/satirical/sarcastic for his age, hard as a mom, but awesome in every other way. SO THANKFUL for Dry Bar. Especially thankful for sets like yours which explain get the *human* element, explaining why we laugh, its helped him better understand himself/why he loves making people laugh, the meaning/human need for humor, because those concepts don't come naturally to most ASD kids. His humor is maturing every day, so proud. I LOVE your son and how he writes jokes .. "cr@p circles" makes sense. I'm the "weird" mom in my community, proud of it. Jimmy is obsessed with engineering like yours, but is mega-talented at roasting politicians- perfect for DC. He grew up watching John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Anyway, THANK YOU. (and as an aging mom--- i'm now proud of my spider veins :o). Love the Simpsons reference and your RARE confidence! You just go with it, accept yourself, and found a way to use it. Love. No doubt he will reach his goals, or land on the moon if he doesn't hit the stars. I don't think he would thrive in, or NEED university.. he doesn't DO school. He goes, basically daycare. Everything he knows,, he learns from the news, books, or experience. I don't give a crap what he does --- as long as he's HAPPY and independent. We've talked seriously about him doing standup. CONVENIENTLY--- his other passion is aviation. =D Perfect combo. He could get paid for traveling to his shows lol.
