Nancy is a great example of the difference between comedy and humor. As Grady Nutt - one of our favorite humorists (RIP) - noted, "Comedy is the fun you make up. Humor is the fun you observe." Indeed, great humor can arise from the toughest, darkest moments of our lives, especially when we learn to laugh at ourselves in those situations rather than lashing out at everyone else. Having a sense of humor is not in most lists of virtues, but it is, and one that is desperately needed these days.

Yay! Shout out to all the Ozark vegetarians. There are at least a hundred of us and we grow our own! What she says is so, so true about the Ozarks. We put our very first "tiny home" underground--for temperature control and tornado protection. We still use it as a root cellar now that we have a real underground house. People in the Ozarks are survivors.

If it makes her feel better, my wife's name is Nancy and she was born in 79. She does hate it, though, thinks it makes her sound old lol

My future daughter in law is in her 20s and her name is Esther. I always thought of that as an older woman's name...but it has grown on me.

@@boondocks8002 Oh My God! I was just about to comment about meeting a White 20 something named Esther! Sounds like a 65 year old Black woman's name

When my sister was expecting, her husband and her were discussing baby names. He wanted to name the baby Fran or Maureen. Just remember my sister screaming those are old Ladies names. Settled on Angela Marie after the Rolling Stones song, Angie but did have people thinking we were Catholic🤣

I’m a ‘71 Barbara. Ugh. Thank goodness this name is becoming extinct. It’s my own name and yet I always picture a girl in the 70’s with long straight hair, parted in the middle and horn rimmed glasses.

Such a complete Joy watching and listening to your twist to the trials of your life. I, too, at 64 am a firm believer that laughing and having a sense of humor is one of the important things in life. It will be 3 years in September without 1 day or 1 hour off, of 8-11 hour days. If you think that doesn't require a sense of humor, the patience of Job and great Faith...... Laugh til you cry, or through your tears. All that to say, Many Thanks for a break at the end of one more hard day.
