I know this video is 13 years old, but when we had to replace the blower wheel on our Maytag dryer about 8 years ago, your video made it so simple. This past week, the drum stopped moving and a friend suggested it might be the belt. This video helped me keep a 30+ year old appliance (which is still working well) keep functioning! Clear instructions and great shots of the flyer wheel (I put the belt on from the back access panel. Much easier. The belt was $29 CDN with taxes. My wife says I am her hero. God bless you Steve!

Thank you for the close up on belt routing. My belt shredded and I would not have been able to put the new belt in place properly without this video!

My belt had already broken so I had no clue about its routing the clear and redundant video showed me the correct route. The audio also gave a heads up about the belt being in the drum groove as opposed to ontop of the drum which is correct. Great video thanks for your attention to details. I will say that I put my belt on the sheave and idler from the access hole in the rear, I made every mistake I could , belt groove side on drum, belt in the groove on drum. but this video got me on the right track. I bought my belt from Part Select and it was in the Whirlpool bag and marked with the correct Maytag part #. They had thoughtfully included a link to this video in the shipping confirmation. A++ company.

@ 03:37 He states that the belt goes groove side against the motor pulley and flat side against the drum. This is absolutely correct. Let me repeat that: The flat/smooth side of the belt goes AGAINST the drum. The groove side of belt goes FACE UP, away from the drum. I’ve read conflicting comments on other videos on how the belt goes on. For me, I just changed the belt on a 1996 Maytag gas dryer (LDG7304AAM). The model number was on a small plate mounted just inside the front dryer door. I followed this video to a T and it worked perfectly. I cleaned the entire dryer, along with the 6-foot exhaust vent tube, with a back scrubber brush (the kind you use in the shower, had an old one laying around) and a shop vac. I didn’t get too aggressive, just all the crud and lint built up over the years. My dryer used to take over two hours (sometimes nearly 2.5 hours) to dry a large load of clothes. After cleaning and replacing the broken belt, it took 55 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. If you have an old dryer like this one, and it’s taking forever to dry, take it apart like this guy shows and clean everything with a vacuum. The blower wheel (in the front, bottom left side of dryer) was just filled and packed with lint. I cleaned that with a toothbrush and then vacuumed it. Once taken apart, there really isn’t much to this dryer.

Best video on KZbin on how to do this. I managed to repair my Maytag Dryer LDE9314ADE and keep it out of the landfill. I'm impressed how clearly they were able to show how to run the belt. I doubt it was easy to film it. Thank you very much for sharing this

I have watched several videos on this and you are the only one that said to put the belt on the drum and not in the slot. The slot looks like the obvious choice, but it doesn't work there. The rest of your video was so descriptive and easy. Thank you so much.

We're so happy to have been able to help you here, and quite honored to be the recipient of your very first KZbin comment ever. ;) I hope this repair inspires you to tap into your DIY side again, in the future, if something goes awry. Thanks so much for your comment here. Cheers!

Great video! Completely accurate for replacing the drive belt on my Maytag dryer! I did not even need to take the back access panel off at all. The dryer remained in its regular spot through the whole procedure.

Hi Parts Select, please thank Steve for me. The video was great, and although I wouldn't call the repair "easy", maybe I'm just not up to Steve's standard's. Either way, my Maytag if fixed and I'm asking my wife to call me Mr. Maytag for the rest of the day. I would have said, call me Steve, but that maybe to weird. lol. One modification I did when installing he belt, I'd like to add for your review. The replacement belt wouldn't lie flat on the drum, so I used painters tape and set points around the drum. That kept the belt right side up and on the proper place on the drum barrel. Then when placing the belt around the pully I removed some of the tape, to allow for slack. When the belt was on the pully, I spun the drum and removed all the other tape points, making sure not to leave any behind. Overall, this was a great experience, and thank you very much parts select and Steve! The man. Kind Regards, Mr. Maytag.

Great Video However on the return of the belt from the Idler Pulley the belt is touching/rubbing on the belt on the Motor Pulley. In the video the two points of the belt look close, but on mine they are touching. The friction is stopping drum I have the correct model belt and measured the old against the new before installation The belt is installed as per the video with flat side on drum and idler, and the grooved side on the motor pulley What would cause the belt to rub together at this point?

You need to reshoot the part where you fed the left take off from the drum through the guide. I'm sure you know it won't work that way.

I fixed my dryer but when it spins it makes a weird sound like there is a piece of paper stuck in it. I can't figure out why.

At 5:10 you show the belt installed in such a way as it will always be rubbing on the idle pulley bracket. Is that right? Seems like a great way to wear out that belt 100x faster than slipping it AROUND the bracket toward the bottom, missing rubbing the bracket completely. Which way is correct?

My dryer will run but only for about 30 seconds or so. One thing I found suspicious is that it wont run at all if its loaded with anything but one shirt. Can u guys give me some pointers on this issue. Its a amanda gas dryer I put a vid up ( Gas Dryer won't stay on. Shuts off ) showing what its doing
@partselect11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. It was quite helpful. I would suggest having a look at the dryer's thermostat to start - test the high limit thermostat and make sure that it's working properly. I'd also have a look at the dryer and make sure that it's not full of lint - clean the exhaust vents. Start there and see how you make out. If you need more help then let us know the model number of your Amana dryer. Thanks!

It looks like the motor has a defective start winding or switch and will need to be replaced. If the blower wheel is turning on the motor shaft then it is also defective and should be replaced and your left rear drum roller being worn as well and should probably be replaced.
