I had a lot of fine fescue that was introduced into the lawn by someone who seeded it several years ago. I hit it with 41% glyphosate in early August. On Sept 5, I dethatched & and overseeded, then put down starter fertilizer several days later. The new grass was coming in great and the lawn looked exceptionally good. The storm dumped 7+ inches of rain on us here in Gastonia. Within 2 days, the young grass began turning brown. It never recovered from the deluge. I raked out all of the dead grass today (Oct 10) and will begin reseeding mixed with Soil3 from SuperSod tomorrow. The first frost window here is between Nov 15-20. Hoping the new grass is strong enough to make it.

Hey Mr. Ferguson... I seeded a week after you and have phenomenal results. I did a dethatch, liquid aeration, over seed and applied fertilizer. Skipped the weed protection step. Will address in the Spring. Presently, in Ohio, I am mowing twice a week. Your experiment worked great for me!

I haven't aerated in 15 plus years. The steps I use for overseeding are; 1. PGR I week ahead of seeding 2. Pregerminate seed 3. Cut lawn short 1 week after PGR apllication 4. Dethatch day of seeding 5. Spread seed and lightly rake in 6. Fertilizer 7. Peatmoss if existing grass is thin 8. Start watering cycle I've found that dethatching produces a much higher rate of germination than aerating

We are always our own worst critic. Your lawn looks great. I've noticed over time that the later I plant a "patch", the slower it will grow, but it will come in.

Your looking better brother! It has been a harder year for me also with lack of rain but still having trouble. I as I have told you did the same this over seeded the end of Aug but it popped up some in about 5 days like always GCI TTTF but what was funny for the next 30 days or so it just kept slowly coming up more and more. I even ordered another bag thinking I did it to soon and will have to do it again but it just kept popping up and is starting to look so so good. I have a few spots like always i need to fix but not bad. Crazy year in more then just yards. God bless brother!!

I agree with the colder mornings the fescue is perking up, this morning was 48 degrees with a soil temperature of 62. I still want to get a last fertilizer application in for this year I am keeping my eye on the weather channel and AccuWeather apps for any rain

I was told if the temperature and the humidity added together is 150 or higher then you have the perfect conditions for yard fungus.

@slimdude20112 ай бұрын
It's not necessary to water grass 3 times a day. Once in the morning, and once in the evening, it should be enough. You don't want to overwater them! The seeds need to be moist, not soggy.
