In this video I am demonstrating a 3.5" direct corner flusher, also known as a direct corner glazer. This type of tool applies the compound and finishes the drywall corners in one pass.
In my experience, consistency of the compound should be thinned for the tool to work properly.
How hard the tool is pushed into the corner influenced how thick the coat of compound was.
It did take a couple passes on some corners to get a consistent finish.
It did leave an excellent finish quality that was sharp and flat and reasonably easy to sand after.
I think it would be especially useful for smaller drywall jobs, such as a renovation, basement or remodel, or for work on scaffolding when carrying one tool is much more convenient.
It can also work fine as a standard flusher, used behind a 90° applicator, without any modifications, in my experience.

I always find it so funny when there’s such intense music just to show off a tool 😂 good stuff though, I’m thinking of buying myself a flusher to speed up jobs as I still do everything by hawk and trowel

You can open up the direct flusher by wedging a bit of flex tape in the triangle screw on plate . This dramatically increases flow and usability, while still behaving predictably unlike if you take that bit off completely.

Also if you only go in one direction as you have here you will end up with a deal more on one side of the tape than the other .. you can see that in the vid . If you then sand that with a orbital sander you will end up with a poor finish as the sanding head eats into the corner and creates a bulge .

Thanks for quick response. If I buy the CanAm tube are the flusher heads changeable with the Columbia products. I’ve been running my drywall business with my crew by hand. If I wanted to invest $700-1000 what product would you recommend that would make the work easier and faster.

Hello, thanks for the video, do you think if i tape with a banjo the direct flusher can work?

1 thing I don’t like about the Columbia tubes is that the air hole is at the end of the handle, so if you want to get your palm at the tip of the handle to push, you end up blocking the release air. Other tubes have the release air hole drilled off to the side.

I just started using this set up after watching your videos. Just did my first commercial job which was all walls.a. What is the sequence for corners and flats.? After tape coat do I hit the flats first and then the corners again? Can you please give me the proper sequence around the room. Thanks. Maurice

have you ever tried the TAPE TECH Mudrunner? If yes, is it smoother/better than a regular bazooka?
@Interior_Works

Ya, it is easier to use. It's a luxury item though, compound tube does all the same things, just have to push a little more.

So this does the same as a angle box?

Would you rather use this or a mud runner? What are your thoughts on both of these tools
@Interior_Works
@Interior_Works 4 жыл бұрын
Mud runner is better simply because it's less pushing, flows on it's own. Otherwise both tools do the exact same thing. Mud runner is 5x the price so it's a bigger investment.

Hello there! I'm about to buy my first flusher (us amazon is my only option... We do not have these here, in Poland :( unfortunately!). And the thing is: which size should I buy? Usually I'm using 2" wide paper tape or 2.4" strait flex tuff tape - so, I should rather choose 3" or 3,5" flusher? "CanAm Tool Corner Flusher with Roller Wheels (3.5")" vs. "CanAm Tool C300-RR Direct Corner Flusher with Roller Wheels - For Applying Drywall Compound and Feathering Corners With A Fainter Touch (3" Widetrack)" - both available on amazon. Thank you in advance for your reply. Have a nace day, greets : )

Ideally you want a smaller flusher for applying the tapes (~3") and a wider flusher for finish coating the corners (~3.5"). That way the finish-coat overlaps the tape-coat and makes for easier sanding. However, if only purchasing 1 flusher for both, I'd recommend the 3", as the 3.5" is difficult to imbed tapes due to its size and is usually intended just for finish coat only.
