The pan hurt my hand and it was a nightmare to clean. The knives left me with uneven finishes. I am Barbie the Builder from the UK and I am USA-taught. I use an 8" hawk and a 10" trowel and I am an awesome drywaller (plasterer) especially with ceiling cracks and mesh tape. Thank you, USA, :) for letting me become great at this and never having to pay my hard-earned dosh to Bodgitt and Leggit :)🥰

30 years in the construction trades. In my town 95 % of the commercial drywall finishers used knives and pan. The hawkers were usually plasterers scabbing on drywall finishers.

Great overview of the tools! Drywall Shorty is great. Personally I use pan and knife at my day job because it's faster for me, but on side work I like hawk and trowel.

I find the learning curve using a hawk and trowel is much steeper... hence why people use pan and knife. Once pro with the hawk it is wayyy faster. Also easier on your wrist. I can do one swipe with a trowel why the knife guys are doing there to four... literally a 1/4 of the time spent on beads.

Hawk and trowels look more pro, but as you said it's whatever works for the individual 🙂
