Love it when the public phone Joe uses is wobbling back and forth. Priceless!

One reason there were so many ghosts at collinwood, is because that loud knocking raises the dead.

I always thought they should have gotten a television at Collinwood...would kill time between possessions and other trauma

Janadu .... pfft you want to see them zoning out in front of a TV? That's pretty funny, I'd bet they'd forget all about 90% of their daily little dramas though, and the show wouldn't be as interesting. Kidding.

+Janadu I was just going to post this myself after the first 3 mins of Carolyn saying the house is too quiet and empty! And a record player and radio would do them good too. They really do live oddly- it's one thing to have no tv (I don't) but no radio? Carolyn is the right age to be wanting to listen to all that 60s music and being interested in the pop groups etc.

+Matilda Woodhouse ... For a family that's supposed to have some wealth, they don't have much to show for it, right? Their house is huge, but it's a hand-me-down, most of which doesn't get used. The nicest thing they owned was Roger's Mustang, which got wrecked in one of the first episodes!

Well it was the 1960s- less goods around than today- they have good clothes, cars, antiques ( the big hall clock would be worth a lot..) the jewels that Willie drools over, and money in the bank. The lack of tv, radios and record players seems to stem from them being old fashioned. Though I expect not everyone had tv back then. Even now I know people who have no tv, myself included!

+Matilda Woodhouse ... in a way, the lack of electronics does give this show an old-timey feel. They opted for telephones, only because this device is often used (a little too conveniently sometimes) at key moments, but it wouldn't be the same if they had TVs and such. T

Note that the scene at 11:49 is left-right reversed. The cars are driving on the left, and the "Rx" on the drugstore sign is backwards.

I recall a few episodes ago, that someone mentioned how the know on the door always seemed like someone knocking with an object of some kind. I believe that said a grable or gable of sorts(laughter) have you ever notice that absence of a door knocker on those double doors. ALSO do anyone in Collinwood lock the doors besides Sam(laughter)

Rebecca Lear No, this WAS Xerox. Photocopying only became available in the late 1950s was still pretty radical ten years later. It took another ten years for it to displace other copying methods such as thermofax and mimeograph.

+atlantic 11561 And in the library where I lived they had an early coin-operated Xerox machine and if you wanted to make a copy of a page or anything like that, you had to pay a quarter. That's a 1970's quarter, which might be 5 dollars by today's money, and that was for one copy on some kind of coated paper that looked terrible. Who sez thins don't get cheaper?
