You know, Wonders Never cease. I have gained a MASSIVE blast of respect for Bourke. In his position, I would have done the EXACT same thing. It would be infinitely more satisfying, and appropriate than ANY other course of action he could have taken. The BEST thing Roger could have done to salvage ANY face at all Would have been to turn around and face them all and offer up the most convincing, if not sincere Apology he possibly could, to each one of them, with a vow to do his best to improve his character in the hopes that maybe one day just maybe they might be able to forgive him. THAT would have been the more noble and "Manly" thing for Roger to do. But no Roger seems to feel defending his Ego at ANY cost, holding up his phoney transparent mask of noble virtue, is a better option. Like a dumb little kid who thinks that covering his / her eyes will make "IT" go away. ...SO.....I mugged Roger & took a shit ton of respect off of him and Handed it over to Devlin. So There. How do you like Me NOW !!??

+Cyan Blackflower I don't know. It seems like Roger gets off easy to me. I mean, all this time and effort by Burke and he settles for a drawing room confession! I suppose he could still make them suffer economically, but I have a feelling that the writers and producer were clearing the deck a little in preparation for Barnabas.

Thomas Leary Perhaps you are right,- [I do know this is just a fictional TV show, but - it is because of that, I sometimes get frustrated with the writing] - However, here I see Roger clinging to denial, as his response to his increasingly tense situation. I merely meant that in my opinion based on personal exp. it is better in the long run to man up or own up to ones past transgressions rather than continue the cowardly stance of lying and denying, there by adding insult to injury. And yes he does seem to get off "easy" here - but wait till you meet Willie Lumis!! He makes Roger look like Saint Francis of Assisi - Old Barnie is another matter altogether.

+Cyan Blackflower I agree. Definitley better to man up, but we're talking about Roger here. I love Willie (especially as portrayed by Karlen). I saw the Barnabas episodes before 1-210. There's a lot of good stuff in the early episodes, but I found myself wishing that Barnabas would hurry and wake up! The episodes that I remember from when I was a kid were great - around '68-'69, especially when old Barny goes back in time to 1897.

I sort of wished he did apologize of his own accord. This ending is ok too, but the probably is Roger and Burke don't have another interaction after this (according to wiki) until the Burke actor changes. Then they sort of become friends, but it's totally not the same thing, and I can't help feeling bad for Roger and a bit empty about it all, because this conflicted seems like it is finished and forgotten too easily.

Robert Huffman You are not far off from the truth in that the writers of this unique soap opera actually did make up some of the episodes as they went along. I speculate (and this is my own opinion) that the writers must have had to come up with some creative hiring methods when it came to hiring other writers when you think about it. This program started in the mid 60's and, during those days, most people, as well as, news channels and radio stations were wrapped with the current events of those times; for example; the Civil Rights Movement, political assassinations of men like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, Jr., and coverage of the Vietnam War, etc. A program whose plots and episodes are based off of the paranormal and the metaphysical would have probably been forced to shun away from hiring potentially talented writers because they happen to be skeptics and studios were concerned it might have affected the way an episode turned out. No doubt it must have been a paradise for talented writers who believed in the paranormal to really show their stuff through their writing. Hey! Just my opinion. Thoughts, anyone?

This is sort of anticlimactic. I was expecting either Roger to go to jail or some sort of twist involving Laura. Still to hear Roger confess finally was satisfying. I guess he was drunk as well then? Was Laura also drunk? If all three were drunk why was Burke the only one who was an unreliable witness? And why did Roger offer to take the wheel in the first place? Still very strange, and I was expecting something so simple especially since the first two arcs had twist suspects. Either way, for something they juggled for so long, it seems very brushed aside. Maybe they'll add to it?
@inspectorspinda
@inspectorspinda 8 жыл бұрын
I just thought up something strange. If Roger is so snobbish as to dislike Sam because of his class, why was he friends with Burke back when he was poor? I'd love to know that story.
@inspectorspinda
@inspectorspinda 8 жыл бұрын
In addition, if Liz was really serious about calling the sheriff, she would have done so anyways even after Burke said she didn't have to. Because she didn't, it only proves that she only did it because Burke was there, and if she found out herself it wouldn't have matter.
