Since the restoration is already very heavy wouldn't it make sense to fill in the pitting with some filler if using the welder everywhere is too time consuming? Just i find the extremely pitted look on heavily restored guns so unsightly. I would either just do a minimal restoration just for display or a nesr perfect restoration if you go trough all that effort.
