That has got to be one of the most amazing looking shells I’ve ever seen !!!!! GORGEOUS,IN EVERY ASPECT !!! The first thing to come to my mind, TIGER SKIN...! Even before he said anything about “feline look” . Wishing I had $4000.00 us to spend and create my own kit!!! Same old’. , I don’t think so...!!!! Kevin McM

Excellent sounding drums. Deep and robust, with very good tone and timbre. I'm not too familiar with DS Drums living in the U.S. But I must say two thumbs up with being able to have options and the ability to design your own drums. I think that is really cool, and a feature that certainly seperates DS Drums from other manufacturers. Drums are not cheap (though today you get really good value for your $$) so having a set that is not like every one else's, but unique adds even more value, and is a nice feature to have for drummers.

Fantastisch drums! I’ve got a maple mahogany kit from Thomann and haven’t had anything better. You can really see them as the European DW but IMO better sounding and (much) cheaper. Not mentioned but unique is that they fit the shells to a certain type of drumhead. And because the head dictates the sound for about 70-80% this is essential for their sound and something nobody else does as far as I know. So are you in for a high end kit for a normal price, definitely check these out!🏆👌

Sounds great, looks great. Some may say a dw copy (even the badge shape and fittings look the same as my dw). The only reservation I’d have with some of these mega expensive lesser known brands is resale value compared to sonor, dw, tama yamaha etc. But that asides very nice kit

What Drum Mics Do You Guys Use?

Great review as always. Has Nolly left? I have to jump on the band wagon and say....lovely looking and sounding drums. However, I suspect the mic set up and being played by a drummer who can make them sing really enhances their sound. They do look very much like D.W drums dont they? And seemingly over priced. I have a Pear Masters studio kit that I bought about 12 to 15 years ago. They sound as good as any £3,000 drum kit, especially through a p.a. It's easy to get sucked into the 'must have' zone when something looks and sounds so nice, but close your eyes and listen to any other decent kit, played by a good drummer through a p.a and youd be hard pressed to tell the difference between that kit and a £5,000 kit.

Larry Tate fair enough, however that’s a pretty unique wood combo and I’m sure if given those woods to use, that other companies could produce a product on par if not superior. To each is his own however

Aristotle So have the rest of them, and longer. I don’t see how this company is any more original or what sets them apart from more prolific manufacturers. It seems drums have long since hit a point of diminishing returns in originality and construction.

You don't know what you're talking about. You should check the history and philosophy of DS Drums on Google. It's an independent brand that has been around for years and in Italy the name DS Drums means quality. They only have one big factory, in Italy (not China). Also their founder is an expert craftsman that spent years studying everything about wood and drums before opening the first DS factory.
