I have EDifier D12 and despite the bass and trebble knobs on top, there is also "cinema" and "music" modes which you can chose from the remote. The "cinema" mode is more bass heavy. Are both speakers on the same mode here?

Against of R1280DBs, the D12 model looks pretty confident, plays tightly and pleasantly. But compared to R1280DBs there trebles is reduced. It is still sad that there is no SPDF exit. I personally liked the model by review. Very good as budget center speaker in 5.1 system.

D12 sound seems pretty neat. Despite concentrated source it did really good for classical and hard rock. I think country will do good in D12 as well. Good speaker for rock lovers

Very bass heavy and boomy. No speaker should be placed on the ground, better still on stands with air surrounding it.

it's wood, just paint over it. it's cheaper maybe because it's not what people are looking for, people usually looking for the natural wood color to match their furniture.

Hi I dont speak portuguese. Hope you can help me with my dilemma. You seem to have a large knowledge with speakers and I wanted to ask you about my plan. I wanted to connect Edifier R1855DB + Edifier T5 and the Edifier D12 will that be possible and wont bust the speakers? hoping for your opinion.

When I tested these, I found it was impossible to get anything like a flat frequency response due to excessive built it EQ. By default, it has bass and treble lift with the midrange sucked out. With the bass pot on full cut and treble on about 11 o clock it did give a more natural sound but nowhere near flat. As for being a Monitor? that is just a joke, but for the money they do offer good value but not an accurate sound. For people that like one note boomy bass and tizzy HF, they will love it.

One note bass? You've got to be kidding. I'm a physics major and a lifelong speaker nut with a "body count" of about 50 speaker pairs; from no-names to Acoustic Research, JBL, Klipsch, Jamo, Yamaha, Bose, Denon, EPI, Dali, Jamo, Jensen, and home brew projects. It's a characteristic of immature reviewers to wildly overstate criticisms and rather unflatteringly stereotype the kind of person that would buy this or that; it's not candor, it's hubris, and it's opinionated to the point that your reviews could only find a home in the realm of self-publishing. You didn't ask for a lecture, so I guess I'm into a bit of hubris myself right now; but the skill of professional product reviewing is being able to make a point without being a prat about products that were engineered by cleverer people than either of us, and without insulting existing customers. I have no skin in this game - I don't currently own any Edifiers (although I have in the past) - I'm just commenting to this point on your comments. But I'm sure you'd be very interested in my 'take'? R1280 series is a stand-out in the Edifier range for its detail, openness and poise that far exceeds its price point. D12 has similar internals and its 'voicing' is predictably similar - but is just a tad veiled and slightly heavier and less distinct in the bass. The difference is probably due to the compromise of having all the drivers in close proximity - and it's unclear without opening the enclosure whether there is a partition to isolate the woofers from being passively driven by each other. Even so, the D12 is good listening, great value, and retains most of the audio appeal of the R1280 - but with the bonus of what some customers will see as an elegant, 'wire free' one-box form factor.

@@rosskelly8268 I stand by my review and comments about the D12. Very good value for money but its frequency response is VERY far from flat. It has excessive bass life due to EQ. However, if YOU think it's wonderful that's perfectly fine, we are all entitled to our own opinion. Just for your info, I also have been involved with audio for over 60 years with companies like Monitor Audio, Cambridge Audio, Quad, to name but a few. I think my opinion is as valid as yours. Wow, thank you so much for this test, but I have a feeling the R1280DBs are not in stereo mode, seems to be both the left and right speakers play mono mode, they don't seems to have any stereo separation, all the instruments seems to be squeezed in the middle, is it possible to do a left right sound check?

R1280DBs was playing stereo for sure. There is no such thing as mono mode for them

@@DSAUDIOreview I know there is no mono mode on the R1280s, what i meant was the right speaker, by default, played both L/R signal into 1 speaker, then distribute the same combined L/R signal to the L speaker, thats the impression I have when listen to them.

Qual desses sons, Desses modelos tem o grave mais redondo, e com mais extensão, pois um me parece que tem um grave mais um grave puxado mais para o seco, e o outro tem um grave puxado mais pra um grave com extensão, um é um pouco mais aberto Que eu acho que é o que tem um grave seco, e o outro é um pouco mais fechado mas com grave com mais extensão desses eu pergunto porque sou deficiente visual e não consigo identificar

Oi, Alex Eu acho que o que tem o grave com extensão è o Edifier d 12, a partir do que você perguntou, tentei identificar isso nos sons. E o mais seco o 1280, que são dois monitores de áudio que ficam separados, espero ter ajudado, grande abraço!

@@AutoRevPH I have d12 and has unbelievable power! Very good for hard rock and heavy metal. D12 has 2 Ti Tas5805M digital amplifiers plus DSP. No distortion at Max at all! Also I have tested and while the specs saying 54hz to 20khz the bass goes down to 35hz at least. And I have it at 0 bass and treble.

wouldnt say that. the d12 is more bass heavy and sounds better on the jazz track imo but the stage and clarity feels better on the 1280dbs. preference as always. But tbh its propably pretty much on par if you tweak them a bit.
