@dolbyased6962 Жыл бұрын

When it comes to bass, the R2850DB is inherently better, but the S1000MKII is not lacking in this regard either. In fact, it's exactly as it should be. Both are very successful in terms of details. S1000MKII for Music and R2850DB for Music, Movies and Games may be preferred.

I'm not an audiophile or an expert of any sort. I'm just a casual listener. And, in my family, across three different households we've got the Edifier R1700BT, the Edifier R1855DB, the Edifier R2000 and the Edifier S1000MKii. So I know the Edifier sound. I almost bought the R2750DB a couple of years ago but instead went for the S1000MKii. This comparison in this video is just an interesting exercise for me. So here goes..... (1) Hard to pick a winner based upon listening to the Mortals section. Both are very good. If I was really pushed to go for one I suppose that I'd choose the R2850. (2) Bass on R2850 sounds a bit muddy on the Jazz Con Cahon section while it comes across with much better and more comfortable definition on the S1000... (3) On the Man On Fire section the S1000 blows the R2850 out of the water, in every department! (4) On the Deep section, initially the R2850 sounds more appealing but prolonged listening proved too oppressive with too much unnecessary muddy bass. R1000 wins out here. (5) Return To The Wild - not enough of a sample here to make a decision. Both good. Maybe the S1000 wins, maybe... (6) On Long Night it the S1000 all day long, every day... (7) On Bellissimo there's better definition all over from the S1000... (8) On Retro Wave the R2850 wins hands down... (9) On Inspiring Middle East the bass is too oppressive and muddy on the R2850. The S1000 wins here. So, overall its got to be the S1000MKii (the ones that I have). That's why they're a little more expensive I suppose.

Fr response look weird maybe try measuring in open sapce free of any reflection so that we get the general Idea if what would it sound like in a normal room or like the living room where reflection are most likely to occur. Treated rooms tend to lower the high frequency so it's kinda confusing when you reaf the graph especially in bass and treble

@randyarbuya21562 жыл бұрын
@@DSAUDIOreview well not so often but when I do. I mostly test outside especially in trying to get FR I get consistent results if it's measured outside (open space free of noise) than acoustic treated rooms which absorbs high's which is very important when we talk about hi-fi and also most of the audience don't have access to acoustically treated rooms unless you're rich or have a capacity to buy and have a room for it. so this kind of response we can assume how it would affect our room well it all depends if you take this comment seriously bu I hope you do get what I'm trying to say. sorry for the weird English

R2850DB is really good. Better instrument separation and I believe bass at high volume will be better than S1000MKII too. The only drawback is that R2850DB is a little thin sounding (compared to the legendary Yamaha HS8, which I like much more).
@4G122 жыл бұрын
To be fair, actually having comparatively more high treble ("sparkle") does tend to skew things towards the bright side and make things sound "thinner" even when it objectively isn't.

@@GOLFADDICT65 Man, you can't go wrong. For a non picky use, this thing is perfect, even more when you add an active subwoofer. I wouldn't recommend a T5 sibwoofer, cause the cut of low bass is similar to it; I recommend you take a sub with a 30Hz cut.

Hi guys, I need help. I have visited several sound stores and asked about the Edififer R2850. I have been told that Edifier in general does not provide good sound and this has come to my attention because of the very good comments I have heard on this channel. In my country, Argentina, there is not a single store that has Edifier equipment, except for the official store which, unfortunately, does not have a showroom and they only sell their products online. In other words, I would have to buy it without having heard it. Could you help me decide? Do you think I should "risk" buying it? I have been told that Edifier is not hifi and provides sound far below any hifi stereo system. Is that true? Does this Edififer model worth it? Are there maybe some better options for the same price? Thank you and please excuse me for my bad English.

Small speakers can have good bass performance. There are 2" and 3" subwoofers on the market, lol. What you're buying with size is SPL. Bass is inherently volume intensive to produce at volume, requiring a significant cone area and throw. Even an 8" is small, relatively speaking. It's fine for quieter listening levels, but you're still required to have 12" or larger drivers and a moderate amount of wattage to really push the shear volume of air for low frequencies at higher volumes. In my home theater, I have a 1" + 5.25" surrounds and center in a 5.1 setup (center being MTM with the same setup) with a PRs and switch to a 3-way for my stereo floor standings using a 8" midbass that's ported. Both my much smaller surrounds and my floor standings have nearly the same frequency response and extension down to a F3 of 50Hz. But the floor standing has a bit higher total SPL capability for low frequency with the 8" midbass. But, none can do actual bottom end bass at high SPL. A sub is still needed, and I have a 21" dedicated to that function. In terms of clean sound, generally the goal is to keep excursion low and still in the linear range of driver travel, and this minimizes dynamic compression and increased distortion you get when really pushing a driver. So, you go big, as big as you can fit in the space you have. Edifier has gone up to 8", and that's the higher end they have until they introduce the 2.1 package with dedicated subwoofer. Many also offer a subwoofer hookup so you can add a dedicated sub to their speakers to make a 2.1 setup for yourself. On these DSAUDIO tests, I've always liked how the R2850DB sounded relative to other products. There was always an effortless resolution to it and at least as far as the mic pick up is concerned, no harshness and a good, broad frequency response that didn't seem to have any annoying highpoints. The setup seemed to be be really well crossed too with no mess blending the drivers. It sounded well as one sound rather than different woofer and tweeter personalities. The only shortcoming is the R2850DB is a slightly warm sounding setup and with conservative highs, not specifically rolled off but certain subdued. I've always liked them enough that I actually bought a pair. I've only had mine for a few days though. They match well to the listening here that DSAUDIO provides. The only thing I'd state is that, at least for the headphones I use, what generally sounds slightly bright on the video is probably neutral. These on the videos sound pretty neutral and sound slightly warmer in real life versus expectation. There's other factors like the room. They match really well with the video overall, so we're talking a 10% difference in expectation. Personally, I like a little more high frequency bite/sharpness, and even with a 3/4" tweeter, the R2850DB is a mild setup, pleasant, but not sparkly. From the videos I was not expecting this anyways, so I'm not surprised. These are a good mid level product, a good buy for the overall cost for a good all-in-one solution. When I was evaluating which Edifier to get, I was mainly looking at the R2850DB and the S3000 Pro. Even the S2000 MKIII never sounded as good in the reviews presented here. The S3000Pro sounded like better drivers and had slightly better transparency/resolution. It was the first set that sounded like it actually steps into the higher end home audio spectrum. But...I liked the sound of the R2850DB better in these reviews. I'm mixed on if I made the right choice, but I'm actually happy with the R2850DB and still think it's the better choice. I'd lean S3000Pro if you want more high end detail though. The other note is these products, a lot of these, are mid spectrum in the home audio world. When you can buy drivers from very, very good driver manufacturers and build your own setups from them, it's hard to compete. But there's a cost. You can pretty quickly spend $450 just on a pair of drivers and nothing else. If you're building your own: mid, tweeter, crossover, fabricating the enclosure, and integrating a standalone amp solution, you're spending $450 on a single speaker plus your own time in labor. For the price, Edifier is making some very, very decent total solutions that are just plug in and stream. They're REALLY nice packages for the price. They're quite slick.

they dont though. i watched the video where he compared the R2850db vs the s2000 mkIII and i was using a sub capable of showcasing each speakers bass as deep as it can go. when ever the r2850db played the bass got fuller and deeper. frequency graphs are not gospel. i have a set of R2850db coming tomorrow and ill be comparing them to my S3000pros. I might make a video if i have time comparing both. i got the r2850db to pair with my RLS speedwoofer 10s. i currently have the sub hooked up to my Vanatoo t-zeros. but the sub is just way to much for such small speakers. these R2850db are a better match. i only plan to give the speakers just a tiny extra bass extension so i wont be turning it up high. they may not even need a sub.
