Please! Teach-from where to start, means in decorating what item we should finalise first then go to the next and next thing.like curtain first or furniture first or carpet or art .please tell step by step.will be of great help. Thanks!💖

neelu bushy ~ A general rule for many designers is the "Seven Layers of Decorating" rule: Layer 1: (Walls and Ceilings) Layer 2: (Flooring) Layer 3: (Upholstery) ~ furniture Layer 4: (Accent Fabrics) Layer 5: (Case Goods) ~ this refers to bookshelves, side tables, cabinets, etc. Layer 6: (Wall Art and Accessories) Layer 7: (Plants and Lighting) You start with walls and ceilings first, then flooring, then upholstery, etc. Hope that helps.

I've been mixing the knowledge that I got watching your videos with my "intern career" that finished one year ago. Now, as a 3D artist, making scenes is one of my basic steps to begin a modeling, cause they help me to choose how to apply these techniques. If I need to choose the color pallete, I follow the 60-30-10 rule in different ways to each environment. I think this technique connects the entire home through the color / textures and create a unity to each ambient.

Hi! Great video and perfectly timed. Would you please do a design video for people on a budget that can’t plan their design style but are using items that are a picked up along the way? Also, for people that are renting more plain spaces that don’t have architectural elements like molding and railing etc. Your spaces are beautiful, but most of them look like high end homes. How about a video for someone in a cookie cutter apartment. 😊🙏🏽😊 Thank you!

Hi Zahira, I recently started watching your channel and its so helpful and your presentation style is great. I have a question for you. It's so confusing and going on in my mind for weeks and couldn't find the answer anywhere else. I want my living cum dining a navy blue accent wall with other walls painted an off white color. My kitchen (which is a traditional closed style kitchen) to be painted with navy blue kitchen cabinets. Bathroom to be painted fully in Navy blue with white ceramics. Bedroom again with naval blue accent wall. But I'm not sure if these would look good together. I like all of those visualizing them individually but not sure how it would go together. My whole apartment is just about 750 sq. ft. Can you give me a suggestion or advice? Can you do a video on selecting color pallete for an apartment or home for different rooms based on dark accent colors? Thanks again or your great videos.

Hey! Recently discovered your channel (thank god!). KZbin barfed endless "designer" channels that amounted to stepford wives pawning off their copy of the stepford ascetic as individuality. (In truth, these are competitive, "I did it better" bravado, videos.) What I love about your work channel is how you explain fundamentals & design principles with clarity & careful selection of words. Your approach is integrative, challenges viewers to discover their style, provides the framework for expression -a emancipatory, modernist approach. Looking forward to future videos. Thank you!

What’s ya thoughts on mixing metals. I’m a fan of it myself. I have a modern eclectic style. I really want to do copper backsplash and white in my narrow NYC galley kitchen. I really want to know how can I incorporate other metals in the rest of my apartment. I don’t want copper everywhere. What metals are complimentary to copper? I’m a new subbie but I’ve almost watched all your videos that’s how much I really enjoy and am inspired!! 😊

Hopefully this comment doesn't get lost. I'm currently redoing my room going from youth to now being an adult. My style is Modern contemporary, where I'm lost is choosing a nightstand, to be more specific, choosing a nightstand that goes with the bed i plan on purchasing, the bed is a Riley Greystone from Living Spaces; however, I'm not fond of the nightstands in the collection. Since the bed is a grey/brownish wood I'm stumped on which nightstand would go with my bed. Please help!!! I'd appreciate some advice! Thank you.

Hi and thank you for your lovely and always informative videos :) I have a question (not necessarily related to this video, sorry!): do you have any tips for designing an apartement for a heavy person? My boyfriend is very sporty and muscular and he weights 120kg. He often finds himself breaking thinks (chairs, beds...) or not having enough space to move around. We're planning to buy an apartment and I would like to buy some pieces of furniture that can last a while and to set up the interior design in a way that is comfortable for him. Any website /place where I can find some inspiration? :) thank you in advance!!

I’d love to see a video or series even on kid spaces. Bedrooms are awfully difficult when you daughter wants three colors with mermaid scales stenciled on two of the darkest walls and glitter mixed into the paint because I drew a line with throwing buckets of glitter on a glue plain yes wall. Not to mention a shared bathroom with her brother that isn’t hot pink. My son when choosing a room color....Gotham Gray. Easy. My daughter.....help please. Now that I’m waist deep with painted walls (stenciled scales hasn’t happened yet) I have yet to find a comforter (probably a solid because the room is going to visually busy). And what do I do with furniture. It’s a hot mess.

I love your ideas and learn so much from your videos . Hope you'll help me. I need to repaint my whole house . I'm thinking grays. My unifying theme is Brazilian cherry and crema marble floors. The trim is all oil based paint color mayonnaise . I'm starting with my bedroom. Dark furniture , cherry floors, lots of windows . I want the room to look moody and restful but the grays I try look purple or are to light. Any ideas? Thank you.

I kind of question the idea of cohesiveness. Each room in a house had its own function and therefore needs a different approach. While in a bedroom I would opt for a ‘subdued’ palette and a scandi style for example, in a living room I’d love to have brighter colours with an Italianate twist. Kitchen again had a different function and in my view ergonomic (which is not exactly a feature of Mediterranean style places with multiple details) should take priority there.

Zahira, one of the biggest frustrations I encounter is NOT having a cohesive home and that’s largely due to items that I buy that don’t seem to gel well and create any flow. When I look at an item in a store like a chair or a table or a lamp or a rug, it looks great but when I get it home it just doesn’t fit well with the rest of what I have which aren’t cohesive either. This makes me lose interest and even when I want to change I am not sure where to start without breaking the bank. Are there brands that offer a consistent line of different products so that way I don’t have to pick up different items that all look great individually but not so good when combined with what I already have.
