For stills I do what is called multi spot on my Sony. It is pretty much the evaluative mode you mentioned. I don't use AE lock on half press shutter. And I never used compensation.
@robnelsonfilms5 жыл бұрын
Nice! I keep my Canon set to Evaluative most of the time too. I se the compensation scale a lot for video.

Hey! Very informative video. I just had one query, why do you keep your photos 1/3 step overexposed? Don’t we usually keep our photos a bit underexposed when using DSLR and a bit overexposed when using a film camera?
@robnelsonfilms3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the comment. I think it is a bit of a personal preference I have. Just like you said, I am used to keeping it slightly overexposed (when possible) when I shoot video (especially shooting LOG profiles), so I started preferring it for pictures as well when light permits it. Always keeping an eye on the light histogram though and always staying within its limits.

That was good loved the vidoe. I have a Canon 60D and a T3i what meatering mode is better for shooting video outside or does that only apply to photography? And for photos witch Mode is the best to use?
@robnelsonfilms5 жыл бұрын
Hey, for most shots I will just keep my camera set to EVALUATIVE. It is kind of my safe mode that works most of the time.

Hey Jonas, im almost sure the spot meter follows the focus point that you choose and not only the center of the frame. Do you confirm that? Great video bro 👍

I shoot in manual mode and I get to the 0 on the light meter. Why are my photos still coming out overexposed even though I am hitting the middle of the light meter range?

What about Nikon Metering Modes
@robnelsonfilms5 жыл бұрын
From what I know there are three metering modes in Nikon cameras. Evaluative is called MATRIX, then there is Center weighted and Spot. So pretty similar. I don't own a Nikon camera myself so if you have more info on this I would love to hear it. Thanks! - Jonas

Cool video, but not really like that on Nikon.
@robnelsonfilms5 жыл бұрын
Really? I thought it was pretty much the same except three modes instead of four as standard. How does it differ? Thanks!
@RomainSandt5 жыл бұрын
@@robnelsonfilms it's All, center average or spot, but the spot is with your focus point, not the center, if I focus on a face on in a corner, the lightmeter will mesure light on that face not the center of the image. If I use more than 1 focus point, the camera will choose one. Useful with 3D tracking. Here's the difference unless I missunderstand you (wich is possible).
