This wireless system is exactly what I’ve been looking for. As a legal videographer who films depositions for trial, I have been using Sony wired lavalier mics for over 27 years. While the sound was always decent, setting up the cables was always a major pain by trying to keep them from looking like a spaghetti jungle and the small mic cables were always getting caught up in the wheel wells of the chairs and people always fidgeting with the cables creating unwanted noise and damaging the wires. I recently purchased two sets of these mics and it didn’t take long to get the hang of them even without reading the manual. What took me 15-20 mins to setup and breakdown before now only takes me seconds and that’s more than worth its weight in gold. Plus, the record feature as a backup is an added bonus in case my camera, Hauppage recorder and/or OBS should fail. These are a major game changer for me and there’s no way I would ever go back to my old mics now.
@mattdayphoto Жыл бұрын
I use black washi tape on my Wireless Go II for that shiny surface as well. Way less noticeable if you’re wearing it with their magnet kit. It’s not ideal, but if you plan on keeping it fully covered at all times, you could try to use a really light sandpaper to create some texture for the gaff tape to better grab onto it. Might not slip off as easily. But I’m with you, a matte texture on those would have been nice on the “Pro” model.

@tonyhailstone Жыл бұрын
The new record button on the transmitters can only be changed to start/stop recording (when unit is set to manual) or start a new clip (when set to auto record). It is WAAAY to easy to press. A firmware update really needs to address the lack of option to lock the button (or at very least require more than just a tap to activate)

He mentioned It a little bit. He said he did wish they upgraded the actual onboard mics for these bur was dissapointed they are the same from previous versions. You don't get higher audio quality with the bit rate of the file. 32 bit just has more information, so in post, you can bring up quiet sources without bringing up a high noise floor. And on the opposite end, if the source audio is too hit and distorted. It's like dynamic range on a camera or even the data speed which it records at. More information, more flexibility in post.

The 'every 4 hours' timecode jam will be because the timing crystals in most cameras can vary by a field (half a frame on 25/30 fps cameras) every 30 mins - the Rode devices themselves might be more accurate but this re-jamming will be because of the variance in cameras.

@w123luke Жыл бұрын
What makes these any better than the DJI option? It seems like most of the changes made were to catch up to the DJI variant. But for me personally I see the DJIs as the better option still (I don't use time code at work so that's not necessary for me) because they have both an output for camera and headphones on the receiver, as well as pins to charge off of in the case rather than using the USB port. The touch screen for me is way easier to use than navigating with buttons plus all settings can be changed on the receiver itself. Finally the mag is built into the clip on the DJIs so no need to add an extra attachment on to use the magnet. Sorry for the long post. This isn't supposed to be a rant but I'm just curious why anyone might choose these over the the competition.

If I understand it correctly, there is no option to jam sync the rode time code from an external source. This makes the great addition of timecode kind of limited for bigger applications. QUESTION - you mention it can charge while using - when doing this with the Rode GO II - there is TERRIBLE interference when you do this either when charging a transmitter or when charging a receiver - another complaint of my Rode Go II's - there batter life sucks - at least on the receiver. Also - there was a HUGE bug with the RODE and the FX3 - when using the Rode Go II or any rode wireless - into the built in mic port of the FX3 - there was a bad grounding issue - this does not happen with DJI wireless mics - does it happen with the PROs?

I was JUST ABOUT to pull the trigger on the DJI mic kit for my first lav set as I start my first YT channel ... and then I saw this. Honestly, I've never worked with timecodes and I have no idea how much 32-bit float will actually improve the sound quality, but this has high quality, more features, and a better price if you consider than DJI does not include separate attachable lav mics, which I was going to have to buy, so that pushes the DJI price up from $330 to over $400. If anyone knows of a BETTER lav mic kit for a beginning KZbinr let me know. This looks like the one to me. I've worked as a voice over with my own home recording booth, so I'm familiar with audio editing and not afraid of working with the extra features in this Rode system.

Two things they should add are these. #1- A way to to Jam Sync Timecode from an external device or at the very least, a way to Sync 2 or more receivers to each other. #2 - A Timecode Mode where Left channel outputs Transmitter 1, Right channel outputs Transmitter 2, and the USB can output or input Timecode. I have been using it in some sports jobs the Hollyland marks and the menus are awesome and the quality build is the best. The 32-bit float is the attractive part of these units.
