Q: What server am I playing Arma games on, who are these people, and can you join?
A: It's the private server for my community, Shack Tactical. As of 2014 we've been around for eight years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything - we have a fantastic memberbase and it makes for amazing gameplay in Arma and elsewhere. You can read more about us here: www.shacktac.com

Q: Does ShackTac play mostly coop or mostly PvP/adversarial in Arma?
A: We do a mix of about 70% adversarial and 30% coop - both offer unique experiences and are a blast to play.
Q: How long have you been playing the Arma series?
A: I've been here from the start, with my Operation Flashpoint experience beginning with the demo's release in 2001. I went into the US Marine Corps shortly after (no relation!) and in 2004 I started playing OFP in multiplayer. 2006 saw me found ShackTac, which started in OFP and then transitioned through Arma 1, Arma 2, and finally, Arma 3. I hope to continue this for a long time into the future, as well as share the ride with viewers like you, as corny as that sounds!

Adam Hraško Helos are pretty fragile. Enough fire into them will eventually bring them down. Go for engines, tail rotor, or cockpit. The higher the caliber the better.

Great video, as always. It's a shame - I don't really have the time to commit to community Arma gaming as I'd like, but every time I see e.g. ShackTac videos I think it must be so much fun. I have found a community that seems to be a good balance between being relatively non-committal yet having the 'serious fun' attitude of ShackTac, with people having the ambition to play and cooperate well.

Dslyexci, I'm not sure if it's a Shack Tac exclusive thing or not, but the scripts you use to trace game movements with a free camera by using Unit Capture and Unit Play, have you developed some kind of GUI tool for pausing, rewinding, playing gameplay. I've been trying to use the Splendid Camera since my scripting knowledge is far from adequate, and I'd love even just a few pointers on just how you can replay your own gameplay in such a cinematic and engaging way. Thanks.

This is somewhat related to the air stuff. My group uses ACRE, and I've noticed in your videos that your 148s seem to work basically everywhere. Is it just a misconception on my part, or have you modded it somehow? Juggling 117's is very difficult, and cumbersome.

nollix Yeah, I agree. Arma 3 is better in literally every way except for the amount of content (weapons, vehicles, maps) but that's only because it's still a fresh game, they released it in September 2013. Arma 2 had a lot of time to become something great, so let's give that time to Arma 3.

It is, it just needs a little work. Dsly has said the only reason they AREN'T using it is because the online lags too badly with 100+ players and that their extensive mod suite is set-up for ArmA2.

Arma 3 was a money grab, IMO. Anyone else think they spent more on magazine ads than developing the game? I don't know if it's not as good as Arma2, but it sure isn't nearly as good as I had hoped. Still the same old issues with ladders, doors, and an almost non-existent damage model, but with more emphasis on CQB. I don't know if BI intended the series to be more “gamey” and less “simulatory”, but that's what ended up happening. Just look at how most people play..

well the only good with Arma 3 is the visuals and stability. Arma 2 is better in all other ways..... Arma 3 doesn't feel like Arma at all and the futuristic shit is the worst, you need a freaking launcher to take out the lights military transport vehicle.... -.
