Phil's tantrum at 22:28 is fascinating. Flowcharting is common in top tier because people have learned optimal play by then and there is NO REASON to not do it in a competitive setting. Similar to chess openings, there are ways of playing that are strictly better than others and if the opponent does not understand that, it's likely an easy win. But if the opponent DOES understand it, it forces a different approach on both players part until one of them breaks parity. This mental battle is what makes fighting games great and what separates competitive and casual play. Relying on reaction time and frame data alone isn't enough. There is no instant gratification. Improvement is directly related to your ability to get beat, reflect on the experience and explore solutions, all capacities that piggy lacks.

There is no thought given spacing, utility or the options the opponent has. Should his flow chart get broken his answer is to try and panic mash either a level 1 super or a drive impact, the later of which has never once worked the entire time he has played Street Fight 6.
