It's especially grating than when Fill did his gamplay of retro games that were recently released as a collection by Nintendo, he decided to abuse modern QoL changes, especially save-scumming like crazy on every screen. Without this, he would have rage quit without getting anywhere in most of them. Seriously, during his Mario paythrough, he had to load during many sections like 20 times before getting it right, saving him lots of time because he did not have to go back from the start of the level or even the entire game. Of course, Fill felt like a pro OG player after beating them, despite playing them on baby-mode.

This level is genuinely fun and challenging as hell. The only frustrating part was the final room, where You're invisible and have to platform over death while bouncing off of moving platforms, bloomps they're called. Took me about 30 tries but I prevailed.

Haven't played this particular one but in previous games, yeah you could absolutely start and stop floating whenever you wanted. I think the floating was on a timer so you couldn't float forever but it wasn't a particularly difficult thing to get skillful at.
