This is by far the most thorough video I've seen about candle care. Thanks for educating me - especially on wick trimming and wax pooling. I've been burning candles for years and never knew all that!

Thanks for this! I tend to get paranoid when I have my B&BW candle burning for 2 hours or more that the jar will break. But knowing that the flames will go out when it gets too low was relief to know. Now I can burn my candles in peace. Thanks!

Also, when I have a candle that tunnels I just wrap foil around the top and make a dome. I secure it with my hair tie and burnt it like that until it got it's life together and decided to act right.

You know so much about candles!! I didn't know that when smelling a new candle, smell the lid. Thanks for that tip :). I wanted to ask, how do you prefer to put out the candle flame? I prefer to put the lid on it, that way, the smell of the smoke doesn't spread into the air. What would you suggest?

I recently bought an illuma lid at my Yankee Candle outlet. I put in on my Yankee Candle jar and it doesn't help make a full wax pool at all. IDK if there is something wrong with my candle. I did get it from the outlet and it has a yellow sticker but there seems to be nothing wrong it. Please help thanks.

@grievingsage18999 жыл бұрын
Lots of good stuff here, thanks for that. Did you have to use an illuma lid on the tumbler too? I light my candles with a bic lighter by igniting a piece of dry spaghetti (stick). Works pretty good.
@Band4Life19959 жыл бұрын
YCC Rep here, Yes I recommend that you use an illuma lid on the tumblers. The Dome shaped fit both jars and tumblers and the flat illuma lids fit the jars. Using an illuma lid on the tumbler will help the wicks to stay straight, if not, they can sway together and create a 1 large wick, which is not good. Hope this helps and Happy Candleling!!

I’ve tried not trimming on the first burn for a Yankee large jar candle, and the flame starts off OK and then within a minute it’s very tall and wisping with constant black soot. I then have to blow it out and then trim it a little bit, and then I start to have problems with the flame. Not being large enough. It’s very frustrating with Yankee large jars. What am I doing wrong?
