Thanks! Never would have thought to use the cassette tool for this! The bearing could not be removed prior to the ring nut so I used an older style cassette tool without the blue shaft. Also an impact wrench was necessary to break the ring nut loose.

Hi, any ideas for removing the ring from a hub that's not built into a wheel? So far, nothing has moved. I might need to build some kind of jig seeing the stresses your wheel was put under.

how did you remove the seal which sits over the ring nut and how did you install it again? because this seal must be removed before using a blow lamp on it.

I tried using a heatgun at 350Cº and the ring nut wouldn't budge. I tried a vice, a 24" wrench, nothing! Should I increase the temperature?
