Dude, youre supposed to put 3 coats of the POR15 paint for it to cover black metal. Cool effort though, looks good on the truck. 👍😎

Great video man! Was curious about grabbing some paint for my caliper (red in particular)...but maybe its me, but the red does still look "orangish"...so Im thinking I'll do the yellow, since my SUV is blacked out. Hopefully the yellow is yellow and not pink (LOL)! Keep on the good work brother!!

@twayne80. The red POR15 does have a lottle of an orange tint to it. It looks way worse on video. The next time I paint any calipers I will use VHT caliper paint from the part store. That stuff looks like it goes on smooth and stays the same color! Blacked out SUV woth yellow calipers would be smokin’. Thanks for watching and the comment my friend!!

I recently painted my original 1978 Scottsdale 4x4 calipers with Red POR15 paint. I cant begin to tell you how crappy they look. One base coat grey and 3 coats of red. Im furious right now because its translucent and see through...UGLY!! This stuff will not come off unless you grind it off. Even an acid bath worth get it. I called POR and they immediately sent me another batch. And after an acid bath and grinding I tried again. SAME RESULT. This stuff is absolute junk. Thank you for your video!!

The POR15 caliper paint was a mess for me as well. I’m going with VHT caliper paint on the rear. Thanks for watching and the comment.

@Ab I will not use POR caliper paint again. Too messy. You cannot get a smooth finish with the POR caliper paint. I used the regular POR15 on my frame and I love it. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Sometimes you gotta stir the paint up real good as the pigment settles down to bottom of can. You have to stir it, and not shake it, as stirring will scrape off settled pigment attached to bottom of can better. 🤷

It look alot more orange on video than in person. It is more difficult to brush on than to paint on. I’m going to use VHT caliper paint next time and see how that turns out. Thanks for watching and the comment!!
