@@raziahassenkhan wa alaikum Salam, as far as I know there's no special time for it but it's from the Sunna that you first pray two rakah and after that recite the dua to ask Allah for guidance. If you are still in doubt than repeat the dua the next day and in sha Allah a door will open for you to find the right decision. May Allah guide as always the right way.

I have done dua istikata, with two raka salat many times and the answer is not always a dream. Sonetimes doors open facilitating, the thing to happen. Sometimes they close and things dont go in that manner. Sometimes its a feeling .i hope this helps. May Allah help you.

@@nusratkhan2256 you just do intention. Pray two raka of namaz. Then just say a dua called dua istikara. Its on you tube or if you have a madresaa kitab .in that dua you there are two parts where you state what you want advice for. I also dont know the dua by heart but i pray by looking at the dua. hope this helps

I do not suppose brother Omar Hisham Al Alrabi is a translator but from his translations of the Quranic Surahs it seems perfectly translated.
