I've always been a rest stroke/slap player and never could run a pick worth a hoot. That's been a hole in my abilities. Okay, first of all I never listened to a Dua Lipa song before hearing Julia. So I went and listened to the original ofiicial song. Sure Julia followed the keyboard bass line on the record for a good part of the song, but she is so very talented, she basically expanded on the bass line and wrote an amazing part. Having the pronounced root note at the "one" count of a measure has always been typical funk/disco, so not only particularly Queen. I believe Kool and the Gang was the first using the funky 3 E notes with Hollywood Swinging, followed by John Philip Souza and Chic
